Sensors

I frowned at the screens in front of me. It didn't make sense. According to these, the gate had been open, but the security cameras only showed a van spinning out of control. We'd never had issues with the cameras picking up a Wendigo before, so why was there nothing on the cameras now?

Wait.

There was a blur that seemed to follow the path the wendigo would have taken, as though the image had been rubbed out.

Something- or someone- had been messing with the cameras.

Jessica came in.

"I've got everything locked down, but our sensor on the back door is acting funny. Sometimes the alarm will flash, sometimes it won't. I barricaded it as well to be sure."

I frowned. "It never went off here though."

Jessica also frowned. "What? That's not good. Think they're screwing with us again?"

A sigh escaped me. Of course this would happen now.

"Yeah, I guess so. You know what that means. It makes sense and all. I mean, it IS the full moon." I huffed and ran a hand through my hair.

"Well then lets move." She was all business once more. her face was stern and her pace was brisk as we headed to the kitchen where the guys were.

They looked up as we can in.

"Ok guys, we have some good news, and we have some bad news."

Hoseok looked up quickly, little lights appearing in his eyes as I said "good news."

Guilt clenched in my stomach once again.

Be safe Ron. Come back soon. Please.

*J-hope's POV*

Good news. There was good news too?

I listened eagerly.

"So, the bad news is our cameras and sensors have been screwed with so that they're completely unreliable. We'll have to grab some food and lock ourselves into the strong room for the night and hope that the normal house locks will be enough to hold everything out. Even if Ron makes it, he won't be back until tomorrow sometime so if you think you hear him, ignore it and do not do what it wants you to do, no matter how hard it is to resist, ok?" Y/N spoke firmly, like she was used to these things.

She probably was.

"So..." I hesitated as her piercing gaze turned to me. "So... What's the good news?"

Shrugging, Y/N spoke simply. "The gate was left open, so we know that there's only one Wendigo which means Ron may actually survive the night. The chances are still slim, but they are there."

He wasn't just sacrificing himself then? He'd had an actual chance of getting away with something as crazy as escaping that... thing  on a motorcycle? Ron was pretty cool if he could do something like that. I hoped he made it so that I could talk to him. I want a guy like that as a friend for sure.

"All right, any other questions?" She asked. "I'll tell you all what this place really is once we're locked in the strong room for the night."

Well, that took care of my other question.

We all shook our heads, except Jimin.

"What else is out there? You said there's only one of those Wendigos out there, so what are we hiding from?"

A wry smile crossed her face, and she shook her head slowly.

"You just hit on the question with a longer answer than what this place is. That'll also have to wait."

What?! I blinked a few times, then turned and grabbed some food as she'd instructed, fear making my hands swift. I was not alone, as Tae was grabbing cans from the same cupboard as me.

"Don't grab to many beans, we don't have any air freshener." She warned us, and I double checked the contents of the cans I'd grabbed.

Fruit, stew, corn, corn, beans...

I put the beans back and grabbed another couple cans of stew.

Taehyung and I were done, and so was Namjoon.

Jessica waved to us from behind Y/N. "Come on! I'll take you three to the strong room."

So far, I hadn't really payed attention to the house around us. As we headed to the "strong room" I looked around some.

No matter where I looked, there were no signs of modern conveniences like lights. Instead, the people who'd built it must've spent every last penny on making it strong and secure.

Tripwires inside windows and doors. Huge beams supporting the metal roof I had seen briefly from outside. With it's outside walls also made of stone, it was virtually a fortress. Even the windows looked as though they had been made of bulletproof glass.

The same glass the Wendigo had shattered on our van window.

I swayed, a wave of nausea hitting me like a ton of bricks.

I understood why it was built this way.

Suddenly the house was filled with screeching howls that sent chills down my spine.

Y/N charged into the room, dragging the rest of the guys with her.

"Strong room, now. We're out of time." She snarled, and we ran to keep up.

A light was growing in front of me, out of nothing, and when I tried to run around it, I found myself frozen in my tracks.

"Hoseok! Jessica, take them-"

I couldn't see. I couldn't hear. I couldn't move. All I could feel was numbness.

Terror. I was terrified.

My heart... My heart should be pounding. I couldn't breathe.

What was wrong with me?

Everything went black, and I could breathe again.

"Move it hombre."

The headache that had threatened at the airport a lifetime ago raged, I couldn't see, and my entire body felt like it was on fire.

All I could do was not throw up.

There was an exasperated sigh, and I was being dragged across the floor.

I heard a huge bolt being thrown into place. The floor was soft.

"Well that got interesting. The attacks just keep getting more creative."

That was Y/N. Did that mean?

Ugh, it hurt to think.

I blacked out.
