Chapter Six:
In the back seat of Happy's car, Peter mumbled into to his home video to himself, filming the roadside that passed by them. Emma side eyed him and stifled a chuckle. In the drivers seat, Happy questioned Peter.
"Who are you talking to?" Peter fumbled with the camera and set it on Happy. "Uh.. nothing, just filming the trip," he replied innocently.
"You cant show it to anyone," Happy reminded.
Peter shifted a little, "yeah, I know."
"Then why are you narrating in that voice?"
"Um.. cause it's fun!" Peter chirped. Here's the thing about Peter: he's awkward in some of the most adorable ways. Hes like a little puppy you always want to give a treat to for no reason.
Peter tried to make small talk, and Emma fought the urge to ruffle his curls like she would a puppy's fur.
"Uh... So why do they call you 'Happy'?"
Happy closed the privacy window. Emma couldn't blame him, she wouldnt be up for small talk if she worked for Tony Stark either.
The next shot of the home film was of the plane they would take to Germany. Emma felt uneasiness swell in her stomach. She still couldnt believe what had happened, what was about to happen, and Peter barely cared. He awkwardly questioned whether he should use the bathroom before. "Theres a bathroom on the plane," Happy told him. Peter was marveled.
"This your first time on a private plane?" Happy asked.
"First time on any plane." He confirmed. Emma had been on planes before, but never had she been more nervous than now.
More shots moved through of Peter and Emma walking the streets of Germany. He smiled and waved at passerbys. Emma attempted the same, but couldnt muster the same excitement as her brother. The voice over of Peter explained he didnt really know why they were there. "Something about Captain America going crazy?"
They were in the hotel room now. Happy disregarded Peter's inquiries, opening a hotel room door and told the siblings it was theirs. Peter was a mess of "oohs" and "ahs", while Emma didnt think she said a word the whole trip thus far. She was almost aggravated at Peter's excitement. Did he have any idea what was happening?
After telling the two to suit up, the two got into their homemade suits. Happy reentered the room, asking them what they were wearing.
"Ours suits!" Peter said, looking down at his sweatpants and sweater combo.
"Wheres the suitcase?"
"What suitcase?"
What Peter thought was a closet was an extension of the room. He barely fought against Happy guiding him through while Emma followed closely behind. On a coffee table, two shiny metal suitcases sat. A big step up from a mint on the pillow, Emma thought. Peter was the first to pop his case which expanded itself, revealing a brand new blue and red suit. Emma popped hers too, a black and red suit that looked almost like it smelled like a new car bestowed itself to her. A small white card sat against the material with a small, typed message from Tony Stark.
"A minor upgrade.
- T.S."Peter read the card aloud, still recording as he did. Emma near chuckled at the note. Of course this would be a minor upgrade to him. To a man like Tony Stark, an Audi R8 was a minor upgrade. To Emma and Peter, this was better than the new car the suit was scented like.
Now, from their positions tucked away from sight in the airport, waiting for their cue, Peter zoomed in on the heroes ready to become each others foes. All the while, Emma was trying not to puke in the suit. In a attempted hushed tone, Peter fell astonished by the scene in front of them, and Emma tried to push the camera down and scolded Peter. "Are you trying to get us in the same cell as Captain America if this all goes really downhill?!" Emma hissed barely above a whisper.
