SUMMARY: Jinyoung's away on tour and you are struggling with how much you miss him until you come up with a great plan: surprise him.
***
It was a lovely morning. You awoke to birds chirping outside and the sun peeking through your curtains. The smile you wore however quickly disappeared once you turned on your side.
For a second you had forgotten that the space beside you wasn't occupied with a warm body. You'd forgotten that Jinyoung wasn't away. It had been a great second.
You weren't sure for how much longer you could take him being gone. An ache had found its home in your chest, and it only grew larger with each day on your own. The worst part was that it had only been a month, and there was still months left until you got to see him again. You were starting to worry about how you were going to handle it if it was already this hard.
It wasn't like you hadn't known that his tour was coming, but your mind had tried to omit it from your memory to spare you. He had tried to make things easier by telling you he would call as much he could and that the months would pass by much faster than you expected. You had tried to believe him, but as you laid alone clutching a pillow with his cologne spritzed onto, you knew that it was a lie.
There was no way this could ever be easy. No matter the period of time spent away from each other.
This was also your first time experiencing him going away, so you had no experience at all with this. You had been quite spoiled in that sense.
The two of you met when he was on hiatus, taking time to practice for his next comeback and the time he had for you seemed abundant. Of course, he still had to work, and he got quite busy when the tour was nearing, but it wasn't like you didn't a job to attend to as well. The two of you made it work despite your sometimes conflicting schedules: He came over after work and spent the night at your place; you brought him lunch during his break; he cooked dinner when you both had the afternoon off and so on.
You both knew it would take a little more to make it work than a normal relationship, but you were determined, and that was enough.
Even now, when he was away, he made sure to show you just how much work he was willing to put in. You awoke to a text message each morning wishing you a good day, no matter the time zone he was in. He would make sure to update you about his day, either in a message or in a call depending on how much time he had to spare, and also ask about yours (even if you felt like it was a useless update since you did the same thing most days, but he disagreed).
He had been unfortunate enough to miss your birthday even if you didn't mind - birthdays weren't your thing - but again he disagreed. He had sent the sweetest basket with things you loved, beautiful flowers and a card that nearly made you cry. You had really lucked out in the boyfriend department.
But the only thing you had wanted was him. You couldn't ask for that, though, you knew how sorry he was for leaving even if it was to do something he loved. You weren't going to make him feel guilty just because you missed him, and besides, you loved seeing the pictures and videos of him on stage and how at ease he looked up there. You weren't going to ever stop him from doing that.
You were struggling with those conflicting feelings, though. The only thing that would make it better was to see him. If only you could just fly out and meet him.
Wait.
The realisation hit you with a bang. You actually could. Well, you would need to save up a bit, but still, you could. With a huge grin, you hugged the pillow tighter to you already imagining your grand surprise.
