Dawn stepped out of Alice's office down at the construction site. He had just wrapped up a meeting with the engineers, that was currently working with them on this latest building. It was almost twelve and he wanted to grab lunch with her. When they had left for work that morning, she didn't say much on the way, he could tell she had a lot on her mind. It hurt him knowing she had been through so much and kept it to herself. If only he had known.

Up until last night, Dawn had wanted Dwayne and Alice to get married one day. He only wished the best for his best friend and his brother, but now that he knew the truth, he couldn't forgive Dwayne. He had promised himself last night, he wouldn't let Alice suffer at the hands of his brother anymore. He now understood, why she was like that for the first three years after Dwayne had left. He had never pushed her to tell him what had happened between her and his brother, hoping she would tell him when she felt it was right. Now that he knew, he realized, he would have never known if he hadn't heard it by accident last night

"Morning Dawn." greeted Glen Lawson, one of the company's head mason as Dawn closed the office door behind him. Glen was a tall lean middle-aged man, with a broad friendly grin and he had been working with the D Brothers Construction for fifteen years. All the older heads that worked for the company had known the brothers almost all their lives.

"Morning uncle Lawson, do you have any idea where Alice is? I looked for her in her office but she's not there."

Glen laughed, "Didn't you hear? Your brother kidnapped Alice, he had her thrown over his shoulders like a sack of cement too. Didn't expect that one though. That brother of yours is still as bold as he was when he was a teenager and it seems Alice is still the only skirt he wants to chase."

Dawn took a deep silent breath, he was about to explode. 'Where the hell had Dwayne taken Alice?'

"How long ago did he take her?" He asked struggling to keep the pitch of his voice to normalcy.

Glen raised his wrist up to his face looking at his watch, "About two hours ago."

"Do you know where he took her?" He asked a little more hastily. Glen paid no mind. He had known a long time, just like all the other guys who worked for the D brothers for more than ten years, Alice was always their number one concern, and why not? The girl didn't have much growing up in life. She was always a fragile thing, and he knew even if the others didn't want to admit it, she was never treated well as a child by her mother. The only time he had ever, truly seen the light in her eyes shine the brightest was when she was playing with the Harrison boys. Glen had witnessed their childhood and he knew one day she would come between those boys, everyone thought so.

"Nope." Glen shrugged.

"Thanks," Dawn called out as he walked past the older man and ran to his jeep. The navy-blue business suit he had on suddenly felt tight, he peeled off his jacket as he jumped into his vehicle and threw it on the back seat. He got out his phone and called Alices cell, after several rings it when straight to voicemail. He called Dwayne but that too went straight to voicemail. He called again.

"Hello," Alice answered, and Dawn's heart almost stopped.

"Alice, where are you?" he gently demanded.

"Your Asshole of a brother kidnapped me. We're at my house." She sounded pissed and Dawn smiled, at least she wasn't crying.

"You want me to come over?" Dawn's hands itched, he wanted her to say yes. He didn't want her to be alone with his brother for long and he didn't think he could handle seeing her turn back into the lost helpless little girl she was ten years ago.
