Two years later
"You may kiss the bride," Dawn couldn't wait for a second longer. He had smiled so much his cheeks hurt, he pulled his new wife closer into his arms, kissing her with an unbounded passion. Sierra's laughter could be heard throughout the wedding hall. Alice smiled her best friends had finally tied the knot, she was glad it was finally over. Dawn had been a mess the past few months with all the wedding preparations. He wanted everything to be perfect for his bride and Alice didn't blame him he had been waiting so long for her to finally agree to marry him.
"Mummy, Mummy, can we have cake now?" Emma tugged at her dress, she was sitting in the seat next to Alice, the whole Harrison family was.
"In a while pudding. Daddy will cut you the biggest slice ever," Dwayne patted her on the head and Emma grinned.
"Luv you daddy." Dwayne beamed, he loved hearing her call him daddy. His gaze moved to his wife who looked positively tired yet radiant in her pink baby doll dress, she was already on her third trimester.
"You okay honey?" he asked concerned. She turned to him beaming a forced smile.
"Yes, just a little tired," Emma touched her mummy's tummy; she was such a sensitive and intelligent child for her age.
"Is brother giving you trouble, mummy?" she asked innocently and Alice smiled warmly down at her beloved daughter.
"No honey, he's just a little excited today." Emma cuddled closer to her belly. She gently stroked Alice's abdomen through the soft fabric of her dress.
"Baby brother don't give mummy any trouble and I'll sing for you, okay?" she whispered to Alice's rounded belly and tears filled Alice's eyes. If only her sister were here to see what a precious joy her Emma had become. She looked up to her husband and as if he knew what she was thinking, he whispered into her ear. "She knows," he gave her a hanky to wipe her cheeks. Alice turned her attention back to her daughter.
"He's listening to his big sister; he isn't so excited anymore," Alice laughed softly, petting her daughter on the head.
"Good boy." Emma praised her brother, kissing her mummy's tummy before reaching over for her daddy to pick her up. Dwayne gladly took the second love of his life into his arms.
The band struck up a note signaling that the reception was about to begin. The servers brought champagne around to all the tables, of course, Alice got non-alcoholic. Alice had to make the first toast, so she got up and slowly waddled up to the front of the wedding hall, near the stage where the live band had begun playing a soft melody. She couldn't walk up to the stage. It was the very hall where she and Dwayne had gotten married for the second time. Alice stood facing the crowd, she could see smiles from one end to the next. The round tables and chairs were beautifully decorated with pink and blue flowers, as a matter of fact, the whole hall was decorated in pink and blue. Alice didn't think she wanted to see that combination of colors in a long time after this. The groom and his bride were the only two people in white. Alice, Emma, Marlene, and all the other ladies were in pink and the men in dark blue. Sierra loved it. The MC gave the mic to Alice, she mouthed a thank you.
"Wow, good night everyone." Alice greeted the crowd, "I don't need any introduction but for those who still need to know, I'm Dawn Harrison's best friend and his sister in law, Alice Harrison. I'm also his lovely new wife's best friend too." Alice sent Sierra a big flying kiss, "I'm going to try and keep this short as possible. Dawn, Dwayne and I have been friends, all our lives. Dawn has always been my soulmate; he has seen me at my worst and my best. He's incredibly kind, caring and an all-round blessing in the lives of everyone that knows him." The crowd roared in approbation, Dawn stood up off his seat and took a bow. Alice laughed.
