I pushed down the handle and slowly cracked the door open, slipping through quietly. Closing the door behind me carefully, I tryed to sneak in and over to the only empty lab desk at the back of the room before Mr Dunham turned around from the diagrams he was meticulously drawing on the whiteboard.
The classroom was dull and covered with bland colours. The morning sun poured in through the big windows gave a warm contrast against the cold lab walls.
Reaching the desk I sighed with relief and admired my spy-like skills.
"You're late Ms Carter," Mr Dunham said still facing the whiteboard.
Turning around he looked at me waiting for a response. The asshole caught me off guard, "I know sorry I was just-".
"I don't care for excuses , just don't let it happen again" he cut me off."Yes sir. It won't", I apologised, relieved that I had avoided any real scolding. It's not like I was usually ever late anyway.
I opened my books and he proceeded with the class. I tried to put my notes back together but I couldn't concentrate. I was still thinking of the trauma from before class. My head was throbbing from where Aiden collided with me, or rather I collided with him.
'I wonder if it was his head that I hit? His shoulder? Or his arms?.... those big..tanned..muscular- oh my god no stop. I am not day dreaming about Aiden Hale's arms, no that's not happening. I refuse to think his about his dirty blonde hair or his deep brown eyes...that looked so warm as he looked at me pulling me off the floor with such strength and- oh please. I talk to one guy and think that we had a special moment or something.'
"I am delusional" I thought out loud.
"Pardon me Ms Carter? Do you have something you want to add to the principles of the mass spectrometer or can it wait until after class? Mr Dunham asked, looking irritated by my disruption.
"Sorry" I squeaked, embarrassed by my outburst and the funny looks I was now getting.
The class could not go fast enough, I thought, staring at the clock already itching to get out of there.

After 30min of impatient waiting, the bell finally rang and I gathered up my books quickly. Mr Dunham reminded us that our projects were due tomorrow and that they would account for twenty per cent of our final grades for the semester.
I noticed people groaning and starting to panic since they hadn't started yet. I had never understood how someone could possibly leave it to the night before. Granted I'm a perfectionist and love being organised, but I don't think I could deal with that stress. I had had mine done since last week and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't A+ worthy.
I was proud of my grades, especially since they were what my future depended on. Scholarships had been offered left and right to me, but the only one that I was focused on was Princeton. The dream school in the dream city.
There was no way that Mom and Dad could pay for even a half of my tuition money for college so scholarships were a blessing for people like me. And by people like me I mean people who don't have everything handed to them, whether it's deserved or not. We had too many of them at this school already.
Speaking of which, I noticed the queen bee herself up ahead, strutting in my direction. You could sense her overpowering presence before you saw her coming. Serena Benson's long tanned legs and perfectly highlighted blonde hair was enough to make any girl jealous, not to mention her incredible wealth. I'd say she'd been wearing Marc Jacobs since she was four years old, and getting blowouts since she was six.
She was drop dead gorgeous and of course every girl envied her whilst every guy drooled over her. But the thing that set her above all others was her even more gorgeous boyfriend, Aiden Hale. Of course the whole school kept up with their perfect relationship and admired the two together around campus. They were flawless after all.
I watched a pathway clear down the middle of the crowd for Serena. I rolled my eyes. Simply her popularity alone was enough to run the school.
I saw her notice Aiden at his locker across the crowd and start calling his name. He didn't even glance in her direction, obviously not hearing her. He gathered his books and headed to class, unaware of his girlfriend's attempt to catch his attention. She caught me looking at her and scowled. Her piercing blue eyes penetrating my soul. I quickly turned into my locker, shielding myself from the glares with the locker door. I knew better than to put myself on the she-wolf's hit-list.
The second bell rang and everyone once again started to disperse into the different rooms lining the corridor. I headed off to the next class straight away, determined to get to this one on time.
