I am from the tight hairstyles, from lots of hair products, from detangling curls.
I am from the decorations used to line the outside of my house to bring light to the night. (Sometimes scary, sometimes beautiful, it looks like the light at the end of a long tunnel.)
I am from the cherry blossom, the clover whose four leaves represent who I am. I'm from the dry food and loss of hearing.
I'm from Mary and Thomas Enger. I'm from the accepting who love me and the non-accepting who study my every move.
From the don't let them treat you different because you're unique when they told me I didn't know my dad in middle school and the you're smarter than that Autumn, when I got that four week detention.
I'm from the confused side of faith, I've never stepped foot in a church unless someone close to my heart has passed on, but I know I believe that someone is watching over me.
I'm from Ireland, Germany, Europe, and the South of America, casseroles and fried chicken (the typical stereotypes, of course.)
From the grandfather who fought for this selfish country, who became my father when mine chose the fast life over his own flesh and blood.
From the mother, my hero, who didn't care she had a black child in a judgemental family of whites. In my closet, top shelf, were the pictures I used to cry every night looking at. I am from the black and the white who is too white to fit in with the blacks and too black to fit in with the whites.

A/N: Hello again, so that's a little about me, heres more: Im 18, in college. I live in Chicago and currently work at Goodwill but not for long. I love to write as a side job lol and I am a criminal justice major. I am pursuing going into the canine unit <3. Who cares right? lol. Give me topics to write about in the comments.
