-------- ✩ --------

Calista's new life ran like clockwork. It was the same thing every day: steal some food and essentials from a nearby convenience store and run. Her life had pretty much been the same for the past month.

The day had started great, or at least to Calista's standards, even though she knew it would go downhill. Nonetheless, she tried to focus on the positive things. She had managed to steal enough food that would last for two whole days. She didn't have any police officers chasing after her, which meant that she didn't have to manipulate anyone's mind to get what she wanted. Calista hated doing that, every time she went into someone's head, she felt a pang of guilt.

When she finished playing with her victims mind, she'd leave them behind to face her punishments. Their minds were broken, and they would be left in confusion and to take on her punishments and because of this very reason, Calista abhorred using her powers, but what could she do? She had to find it, even if it meant she had to twist the minds of a few innocent people. The guilt that followed her was a curse, almost like a scar. It would always remind her of all the families she destroyed over the past month.

Guilt.

That feeling seemed to be something that was permanently etched into Calista's heart. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't control it. It dominated her thoughts every time she ran away from her problems. She hated running away and if it wasn't for the nagging in the back of her head, she would've given in to her rage and become a murderous monster, out for revenge.

-------- ✩ --------

Calista made her way back to camp, if you could even call it that. A shelter made out of old sheets of aluminium stood in the corner, there was a small pile of ash in the centre, from last night's fire. Cursing herself for being so careless and forgetting to clean up before she left, Calista swept the ashes into the nearest bush. Her mind was too preoccupied, thinking about her next destination.

-------- ✩ --------

Calista finished eating her protein bar and made her way over to the makeshift tent.  As she tried to get comfortable in her thin sleeping bag, Calista tried to stay awake, wishing to avoid the inevitable. She couldn't help but wish for a peaceful night, even though she knew that was the one thing she could never escape...

A/N- Ummm... How was it?? Should I write another part? Are there any changes I should make? Should I make the chapters longer?  I'm open for feedback as long as it's not too harsh:).
