Stephanie ended the call with Jack and gathered her things quickly, then hurried out the door. She wanted to get there and talk to him before anyone else could. Namely, Grace. Before she and Jack hung up, she'd made him swear he wouldn't answer any calls or let anyone in the house. She'd never dealt with a situation quite like this, and she'd never been told what to do if she came across it.

The obvious thing that came to mind was to get to Jack immediately and see what she could confirm with him. Grace could have easily used details from the session she'd witnessed, but she'd also given some Jack never mentioned. She just hoped he remembered the same things.

What if he doesn't?

The thought haunted her the entire trip to his house, sending chills through her. There was one thing that Grace had gotten right, she was sure: people used him and had been using him most of his lives. She hated the thought of Grace maybe being one of them.

Wouldn't be the first time someone did that. He's rich, kind of famous, and he's vulnerable.

The thought just made her worry more, hoping that Grace hadn't decided to pay him a visit. She didn't want to risk him being tainted by her supposed memories before she could get to him.

It's the only way to be sure.

She pulled into the driveway, glancing around as she cut the engine. So far, it looked quiet. No other cars were parked there, not even Jack's. She assumed he kept his in the garage, because she'd never seen it out.

Stephanie exited her car and headed for the door, hoping the woman hadn't called or something by now. She rang the doorbell and waited, her quick conversation with Jack running through her mind.

"What about it?"

Stephanie forced herself to sound casual as she said, "I was just curious about some details. You know, what else you might remember. You'd be surprised what might be helpful."

"Okay, what'd you want to ask?"

"I'd rather do this in person," she replied. "Is that okay?"

"I guess so," he said. "Stephanie, what's this about exactly?"

"I'm not sure. Just do me a favor, okay? Don't speak to anyone until I get there. I mean no one."

"Yeah... all right."

He'd sounded so confused, which made her feel guilty. The poor guy sounded like he'd had enough confusion by now. Still, she wouldn't tell him anything until she was sure. If she was lying, Stephanie didn't want to risk getting some past connection in his head that Grace might be able to exploit.

He answered the door quickly, motioning for her to come in. "Stephanie, what's going on? Why couldn't this wait?"

"Something came up," she said. "I can't explain just yet, but it really is important, okay? Trust me."

"All right," he replied. He stepped aside to allow her entrance.

Stephanie smiled. "Thanks." She hurried inside and sat down, watching as he closed the door and crossed the space to join her. "What'd you want to ask?"

"I was wondering about that session we did before. You know, when you used the name Elijah?"

"What about it?"

"Can you remember anything else besides what you told me then?"

He nodded. "A few things. I wrote it all down like you said."
