Author's Note- Ya boi did it. A kind of sort of sequel to You're Not Broken, You're Human. Which you should read first because there will be references to it and the plot of this is a direct cause of the events in that book so... Go read that first! Also I tried my best here to write Remus with ADHD and intrusive thoughts but I probably failed completely and I apologize. That being said enjoy!
I sat there, my head in my hands as Virgil walked out of the door. Part of me wanted to go tell Deceit, part of me wanted to go after my self, but I sat there knowing it wouldn't matter, he'd just keep escaping, again and again. And maybe he deserved to leave, maybe he deserved a happy ending.
I laughed bitterly, the sound of it echoed faintly.
Not me though, I don't get a happy ending. I probably never will.
I started to fidget, taping my finger against my head, losing focus in that thought.
Tap tap tap.
There's probably a store or something, and you have to buy a happy ending. But what's the currency? Either way I probably have none of it. Unless I'm secretly rich in happy ending currency and they were out of stock and I just said "Fuck it.". Yeah, that sounds like me.
Tap tap tap.
I need to sleep.
So do Virgil and Logan have like a goldmine of happy ending currency? And do they share it now? Can you exploit people for their happy ending currency? I'd do that. Maybe Roman has some and I can steal it. But how would you steal it?
Tap tap tap.
I really need to go to sleep right now.
But how do you transfer-
Shut up and let me sleep.
BUT HOW DO YOU TRANSFER THE HAPPY ENDING CURRENCY?
SHUT THE FUCK UP!
CAN YOU EXCHANGE IT FOR AMERICAN MONEY?
PROBABLY NOT NOW SHUT UP
Tap tap tap.
Faster.
Taptaptap.
WHAT WOULD THE STORE EVEN BE CALLED?
I don't care I just need sleep.
PROBABLY SOMETHING STUPID.
I clenched my fists. Shut up, okay? I need sleep. SLEEP.
ALSO WHAT DETERMINES HOW MUCH CURRENCY YOU GET?
I slammed my fist into the wall.
"I SAID SHUT UP!" I yelled.
Shit, Deceit probably heard that.
I bounce my leg, seeing if he'd come.
The sounds of his footsteps slowly made themselves heard, drowning out my thoughts.
A door opening, Virgil's door.
Not his door anymore.
Then mine.
Always my door, I doubt I'll ever get out of here.
Do you want to?
...
He asked something, peaking through the doorway, but I didn't hear it. Well I heard it but I was noticing how tired he looked so I didn't hear it.
"What?" I asked.
"Are you-" He started, just as I had processed what he had said.
"Yeah, sorry." I interrupted.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly doubting my response.
"Well I have some bad news anyways." He said, entering and sitting on my bed so he was looking directly at me.
Hey what if you-
Oh my God shut up.
I mean he's sitting on your-
SHUT UP!
He took a deep breath, distracting me from my thoughts, "Virgil left."
Act surprised.
"Again?" There was a hint of sadness in my voice, which was real, but probably sold Deceit on the fake shock.
He nodded, saying nothing.
Tap tap tap.
"Well maybe he deserves it." Wait that was out loud?
Deceit look at me, confused.
"I mean... we're probably stuck here for a reason and he gets to leave because..." The words died in my throat.
Why did he get to leave?
Why am I stuck here?
"It's unfair, isn't it?" Deceit said bitterly.
I nodded.
Unfair.
Do you even want to leave? If you could?
...
No.
