chapter 4 - deathly kiss of a fighter

(If your questioning the song, i thought it just went well with the story part)

Erens pov

It was our first expedition after quite some time. We were getting our gear ready and our horses saddled up. I looked over at captain, i started staring at him. He noticed and walked over from being with his horse. I look away quickly and start seeming busy.

I jumped slightly when i felt a hand on my shoulder. I look at the owner of the hand noticing its captain. "Yes captain?"i ask.

He sighs slightly. "I may sound desparate here.. but..." he starts, clenching my uniform in his fist, "dont die on me today... you hear me?" He says, slowly letting go of my uniform.

I smile slightly at him and i grab his hand, i bring it up to my mouth and i kiss it quickly. "Same goes for you then... dont get eaten..." i say before letting his hand go. He nods slightly before turning away from me, walking over to his horse and getting on it. I get on mine quickly. A few minutes later, we head out on our mission.

Levis pov

A forest... great... reminds me of when we were fighting annie known as the female titan. Back then we didnt know it was her.

A sigh leaves my mouth, my eyes scanning everywhere. The titans broke the formation up severely, out here theres either small groups or a set of elites on their own. That includes me, yes, im on my own which isnt the best thing to be doing right now. You never know where a titan will pop out of behind all these trees.

My eyes scan every nook and cranny i can see. Any meter, any second. What would be worse is an abnormal, or even a titan with erens powers. Now that would be just my god damn luck now wouldnt it? I wonder where eren is... i wonder if hes still alive.

I need to keep focus though. I sigh once again. No titans for a good 30 minutes. Kinda hoping it stays that way.

When i peer round a few trees, i notice a 15 meter titan. My eyes narrow as i switch to my 3D manuver gear. I end up going to a tree a bit higher than the titan. I latch my gear to the titans nape before starting to move towards it.

I noticed something to my right so close up, my eyes widen before getting grabbed by another titan that came out of nowhere. It broke my gear as i was grabbed. Shit...

I look at the ugly beast. I grab the flare gun from my pocket and shot it into the air, sending out an emergency flare. "I hope someone sees that in time..." i say to myself. I notice im close to the titans mouth, i hold my legs away from its mouth. "Tch.. bastard..."

3rd person.

The titan neared levi to its mouth. Levi had just noticed he has a broken blade in his hand. He started cutting at the titans fingers, one each time. But before he got the last one off, the titan had tightened his grip. Levi screamed out in pain, his body going limb as if the air had been squeezed out of his body.

Levis pov

My sight, clouded. My eyes, lidded. Was this really it for me? Was i going to fall? The broken sword had dropped out of my grip.

"Eren said... not to die... i guess i cant do that all the time..." i said to myself quietly. I slowly shut my eyes as my legs enter the titans mouth. A tear falls down my cheek as i feel the titans teeth on my legs.

A few seconds pass and i feel no pain. I slowly open my eyes noticing theres blood coming from behind the titans head. 'Did someone come?..' i thought.

"Captain!!!" A familiar voice shouted. I slowly fell from the dying titans hands. The breeze was harsh, i slowly closed my eyes as i fell down 17 meters from the ground.

Erens pov

I saw captain falling down. I quickly jump from the falling titan, reaching my arms out for levi. I couldnt reach him in time, his body crashed with the ground, his mouth flying open in a silent scream as his back hit the ground. His body started rolling slightly until it was stopped by a tree. I tear up as i quickly head over to him.

Once i reach him i hold him in my arms, his head was bleeding heavily along with other parts of his body. He needs help, immediately. I shoot off two emergency flares, one after the other. This signals immediate help. Within a few minutes hanji, erwin and the rest of the levi squad had come to my aid. The rest of the cadets were protecting the space around us from titans. Hanji ran over to me and levi, noticing him limb in my arms.

"We need to get him immediate treatment. Head back to base everyone!!" Erwin ordered sending off a withdrawal flare.

Still erens pov

I stare down at levis body as he laid still in a medical bed, tubes and wires connected to his body, an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose. Slow beeps coming from a monitor, calculating how many times his heart is beating. I hold onto his hand gently. I bring it up to my face slightly, now holding it gently with both my hands.

I sigh sadly as i place it down, slowly getting up. I lean over levis limb body, moving his oxygen mask away from his face. I end up getting closer and i kiss him softly on the lips, tears running from my eyes.

I kissed him for a few seconds before feeling a hand on my shoulder, that hand moving slowly towards the back on my neck. My eyes shot open. I looked at the hand noticing it was connected to levi. I move away slightly, starting down at the body below me, his arm falling back to the side of him. My eyes widen putting the oxygen mask back on his face. The beeps of the monitor came back into my mind, his heart rate was normal.

I looked at his eyes noticing they were twitching, trying to open. A few seconds pass by and they open slowly. Tears gatherwd in my eyes once again as i stared deeply into levis eyes.

"Er..en..." he said quietly behind his mask. Tears ran from my eyes as i clutched his shirt, crying into his neck. Levi stared at me with sadness clear in his eyes. He slowly sat up, ignoring the pain from parts of his body. I look at him noticing him taking off his mask and grabbing the back of my head. Some wires came off of him as he sat up, causing the monitor to have a long beep. Our lips connected for the second time, tears falling from both of our eyes.

Hanji and erwin rushed into the room hearing the long beep from the monitor.

3rd pov

The two stared at the couple who were kissing. They were relieved that levi was alive and not what they feared. The couple separated slightly but still stayed close to eachother. Levi was gripping onto what he could just to keep himself close to eren.

Erens pov

"You were... the one... who.." he struggled to talk. I waited patiently for him to say what he wanted to. "You saved me.... didnt you...?" he rephrased to make it easier to say.

"Not just me.. i may have killed the titan but hanji and erwin got you here safely and hanji helped you out here..." i say holding him in my arms. I rested his head on my shoulder where he happily laid. Levi looked over at the two standing at the door.

"Thank you..." he said weakly to them. They both came over with big smiles on their faces. They joined the hug, careful not to hurt levi. "Thank you so much..." he said tears running from his eyes... but they were happy tears.

"Your a fighter levi.. you really are" i say quietly.
