SCENE 1:
INT-BLACK SCREEN
ALYSSA's voice comes in as almost an echo in Jemma's head.
ALYSSA
Jemma....Jemma, I'm scared. Where are you?
INT- FORREST- DAY
Camera opens up on a close up of JEMMA's face. JEMMA is laying in a pile of leaves and sticks. She jolts awake and looks around with just her eyes. Slowly she begins to sit up as the camera zooms out to reveal a forest scene. JEMMA is now sitting up in the middle of it.
JEMMA
Alyssa? Alyssa!
JEMMA swiftly stands up but does not have enough strength to hold herself up and immediately leans on a tree. Camera zooms in on JEMMA. A sound of a stick breaking is heard in the distance. JEMMA immediately looks up and sees a young man with dark brown hair and blue eyes, RIDER. Camera pans over to RIDER. Camera zooms out to reveal the whole scene.
RIDER
You look like shit.
JEMMA
Who the hell are you? Where the hell am I? Where is Emily?
RIDER
You ask way too many questions.
RIDER turns to walk away but is immediately stopped by JEMMA
JEMMA
Wait... Have you seen my sister?
RIDER pauses, as if remembering something. Camera zooms in on RIDER. He stays still for a few moments before turning back around to look at JEMMA. Camera zooms out to reveal scene.
RIDER
Kid, you're lucky you even ran into me in this place.
No one ever comes by this way anymore.
JEMMA
Then why are you here?
RIDER takes another pause as JEMMA slowly stands up, finally gaining her strength back.
RIDER
You shouldn't be here. It's too dangerous.
JEMMA
I have to find my sister. She's probably so scared. She's only six years old.
I've never been away from her this long.
RIDER
Just go home. You're sister-
JEMMA
Alyssa.
RIDER
Alyssa, is probably waiting in the living room with her favorite dolly.
JEMMA
No she's here. I saw her being taken.
Camera zooms in on RIDER. RIDER pauses again. This time he begins to breathe heavily as if remembering something terrible.
JEMMA
You have to believe me. Something terrible has happened and I need to keep her out of harms way. Please help me find her.
RIDER snaps out of his trance and looks back at JEMMA who is now almost in tears. Camera zooms out to reveal the whole scene.
RIDER
Look kid, I'm not some baby sitter. You're on your own.
JEMMA
I'm not a kid. I'm 18.
RIDER
Congratulations! No one cares.
RIDER starts to walk away again, but JEMMA runs in front of him, stopping him in his tracks.
JEMMA
You have to help me!
RIDER
I don't have to do anything. I have my own damn problems and I don't intend on taking in another one.
RIDER pushes past JEMMA and continues to walk away.
JEMMA
I'll pay you.
RIDER stops once again, but this time not in a dramatic pause, but with a smirk.
JEMMA
Name your price.
RIDER
You can't afford me, Sweetheart.
JEMMA
Sure I can. I have money saved up for a car, but I will give it all away if it meant my sister would be safe. Nothing is more important than her life.
RIDER turns around and walks toward JEMMA.
RIDER
Deal
RIDER shakes JEMMA's hand.
JEMMA
I'm Jemma, Jemma Black
RIDER
