I scuffed my black converses on the hard pavement. My head was bent low and my golden hair falling over, covering most of my face. I kicked a small pebble which was on the pavement. It hit a foot which was a few meters in front from me. I looked up.
"Oh hey there" A boy said, around the age of 17, with dirty blonde hair, pinkish thin lips and deep hazel autumn colored eyes. "Uh, hi uh.." I mumbled, not knowing what to say.
He nodded and smiled. I didn't know what that meant so I just slowly walked past him. "See ya 'round" he said. I didn't turn to look at him, I just walked passed.
I sat down in class. Everyone was all awkward and quiet as it was a start of the new year. Not everyone knew each other, in fact I only knew one person in my class, Stella. She's been my best friend since forever. She was sitting next to me.
"Psshh" she snarled, "that guy over there, in the dark blue jumper, he's kinda cute don't you think?" She's always been like that. Boys boys boys. "Nah, not my type." I said, rolling my eyes. She playfully punched me in the arm.
"Good morning class. I'm your teacher, Mr Marten." Our teacher said, pulling off a pretty good fake smile. He got no response. He smiled again, this time slightly twitching his left eye.
Suddenly there were two soft knocks on the door. The whole class turned to face the door as well as the teacher. "Come in" the teacher instructed. The door started to open slowly and walked in the boy I ran into this morning before school!
"Jeremy!" Stella screamed, running towards him, before giving him a hug.
I was so confused.
"Are you Jeremy Sumpter?" Mr Marten asked, looking at the class list in his hands. "Yep, that's me" he said, smiling uncertainly.
"You are 10 minutes late, Jeremy." He said, frowning slightly. "Oh umm yeah, I couldn't find the classroom so I had to ask around" he said, clutching his bag on his right shoulder. "Go and take a seat next to Stella, since you both know each other." He instructed.
Did that meant I had to move? Haha no way I'm moving. I don't know anyone in this class apart from Stella either. I'm not much of a socializing person.
Jeremy carried a table from the back of the classroom to the front, where Stella and I were seated and another boy helped Jeremy bring a chair across too. Jeremy was seated next to the aisle on the right, while Stella was in the centre and I was on the left.
He stared at me for a minute before adding, "ohh! Hey! Hahah, didn't expect seeing you here" with a wide grin on his face. "Haha..yeah hi" I said, smiling back.
Stella looked confused now. "Oh, you both know each other?" "Yeah haha, we ran into each other this morning" Jeremy added. I just nodded in agreement. "Oh awesome!" Stella replied, I could sense the sarcasm.
"So you know each other well?" She asked again. "Hahah no, I wouldn't say that. I don't even know her name" Jeremy said, smiling at me. "Jane, my name is Jane Darwee." I smiled.
Not long after that, we became the closest of friends, Stella, Jeremy and I. We did almost everything together. We used to spend everyday with each other, exploring, camping out in each other's back yards, going on adventures.
We used to sit on Jeremy's house roof, and just watch the stars. It was amazing.
And in school, we were never apart. We obviously sat next to each other, we did projects together and spend recess together just talking.
But little did we know that, this friendship wouldn't last for much longer...
