You know that death is the most beautiful part of life, right? Death is beautiful because we all fear death. And fear is the most amazing emotion of all because it creates complete awareness. It brings you to now, and it makes you truly present. And when you're truly present, that's nirvana. That's pure love. So death is pure love.

my eyes fluttered open. but i didnt wake up to the light pink walls and fairy lights like i usually did. i woke up staring at a tile ceiling, in an uncomfortable bed.

i tried sat up, feeling a sharp pain in my head,in my leg, and in my arm.

i looked down at my left leg, seeing that there was a cast wrapped around it. i looked down at my left hand. there was a long needle stuck inside of my veins.
someone dressed in faded white scrubs pushed open the door, looking down at a clipboard. she looked over at me, her eyes lighting up.

"Beth, youre awake! oh my, youre awake! this is wonderful, i must tell dr.finn." with a bright smile, she jogged out of the room.

a couple minutes later, a tall man with graying hair and snoopy scrubs walked appeared at the door. he held a clipboard in his hand, smiling.

"well nice to see youre awake, beth!" he pulled a chair over and sat down at my bedside.

"what happened?" where the only words that i could utter from my lips.
a look of sorrow passed his face. thanks to my mother, i knew that look very well.

"well, you see, you where in a horrible car accident. we didnt even think that you'd live to see another day. you've been asleep for about a 15 days now-"

"wheres my mom?" 15 days

he pursed his lips and looked down at his clipboard. "your mother is okay. she had a couple surgeries and she was fine. so fine, that im afraid she went away."

"what do you mean she went away? where could she have possibly gone?"

"beth, you've just woken up, why dont you-"

"no. where did my mother go?!" i tightened my grip on the think hospital blanket.

"we saw her looking online for a plane ticket to California. she just left a large check on her bed, took a cab and left."

"so where am i supposed to go? i have no one!"

"thats not true, beth. you have us. everyone here. and when its time for you to go, you will move in your aunts apartment building."

"and when will it be time for me to go?"

"you just woke up, so we arent sure yet. we have given you a couple of surgeries and youre doing very well. we just want to be positively sure youre ready to go," he took the needle from my arm. he checked my breathing, replaced my bandages, the usual.

"your aunt left you some clothes, i suggest you change. most of the children here like to stay in the tv room, go introduce yourself,"he said with a smile, "but be careful with that leg of yours. you hurt it pretty bad."
dr.finn helped me out of my bed, and placed the crutches under my arms, and we practiced walking around the room.

a red haired nurse bursted through the door. "dr.finn. its harry. he's awake!"
"here, help beth get washed up and changed, would you?" he said in a rushed town.

the red head nodded her head, replacing dr.finns place. dr. finn rushed out of the door, tossing my clipboard on my bed.
