Knife went to stretch and let out a yelp as he hit hardwood floors. He staggered to his feet and realized with a shock he was certainly no longer in his tent. He was in a small room similar to one at Hotel OJ's, but more modern-looking and monotone. The room was pretty bare except for the bed, a couple of paintings, a table, and small shelf littered with little charms.
Knife stalked over to the shelf and peered closer, then backed up when he realized what they were. They were the charms his fellow competitors (and friends) wore- along with a few he didn't recognize. Yet there was one that had strange familiarity to it. It was a small orange spoon with a few strands of orange fur scattered by it. Orange fur...
Knife jumped back and put a paw to his face. All he felt was sleek fur where he expected scars. That went for the rest of him too. All he felt was his body aching and smooth fur underneath his paw. He sighed in momentary relief and went up to the door, gently pushing it open. He began to creep down the long white hallway when he came across a door and a long spiral staircase. Silvery letters on the door read 'MePhone4'. Knife rolled his eyes, though unease pricked his fur. Perhaps MePhone here could explain why everything had taken a depressing palette, and why he woke up in the hotel instead of his tent. So, with unease growing stronger, he tapped the door.
A few minutes of silence passed- nothing. Knife grumbled and hit the door, "MePhone! Get out here and explain to me what's going on!" He waited, growing more impatient until a lock clicked and the door finally opened. MePhone4 glared for a moment before his expression relaxed. He reached out a black paw and patted Knife's shoulder with a smirk. "Good to see you're finally up buddy! Reviving really is a blessing, isn't it?" He purred and padded over to the staircase. "Since you're up, come down and have breakfast yeah?" Before Knife could even demand an explanation, MePhone4 disappeared down the staircase.
That left Knife with even more questions, and not enough answers for his liking. Well, he thought to himself, he didn't have many choices on what to do now. He glanced back at the few other doors in the hallway before making his way down the staircase. He padded out into a small kitchen where MePhone, along with a white & grey she-cat & and brown tom, was talking. There was a small plate in front of an empty seat, and Knife sat down, trying to listen to the trio's conversation. However they all stopped to look at him, and MePhone grinned again. "Glad to see you've joined us Knife! We were just discussing the set up for the next battle- assuming you're all rested up? Anyway-" Knife cut off the black & brown tom's rambling. "What're you even talking about MePhone? Did you hit your head on the cave wall? We're still in a competition!"
MePhone stared at him with a look that was a mix of surprise & annoyance. He then gave an short awkward chuckle, "Perhaps you should go rest some more, Knife. You go do that while we get things ready." MePhone stalked off toward the door with the brown tom scrambling after, arguing about some random things in an annoyingly scratchy voice. The she-cat turned and moved closer to Knife, tilting her head. "You should be all healed up by now, especially since you were revived a while ago..." She shrugged and walked over to where an attachable wheelchair leaned, and hooked herself up. "If you need anything, you know where to find me." With that she headed out the doors as well.
Knife growled, fur fluffing up in frustration. Getting information on what the hell was going on wasn't going to be easy, it seemed. With a lash of his tail Knife stormed through the door. A small dusty path lead to a large arena ahead, and to his left was a motel-looking building with 'Contestants' scribbled on a rickety sign. He scoffed and walked over, pushing open the small door. There was loud talking from the rooms, of which there were many. He heard creaking and looked up to see who he presumed was Paper, staring down at him with horror. The white & grey tom scrambled back into his room, slamming the door behind. Suddenly a loud siren blared, and Knife stepped back out as the cats came out of the building with groans and nervous whispers. Knife took up the tail as they stopped in front of the arena. A loud, cracking voice came from a speaker box nearby. "Welcome competitors to Inanimate Battle 5! I welcome back our veterans, and welcome the newbies who've decided to join us!"
The cats split into what looked like a dugout. Knife looked around wildly, slowly starting to piece something together. His thoughts were interrupted as the voice came back on, and sent chills running through him. "First up- Knife vs Marshmallow. Last one standing wins!" Knife was ushered into the arena, as Marshmallow, who had fur covering her eyes, stepped in as well from the other side. Though he couldn't see her eyes, he felt the sharp anger radiating off of her. Knife braced himself, claws extending to grip into the floor. "3..2..1- GO!"
