A Duelist Journey

The First Trial

I do not own Yugioh.

Last time on Yugioh:

"Yeah, we're finally at Duelist Kingdom," Joey yells and knocks a someone.

He catches the red haired girl before she falls into the water. With hair that looks like Yugi's and a weird choker.

"Oh, you're Yugi Moto," the girl says

"Remember Joey Wheeler," Joey call out.

"I'm MIkki," the girl calls.

"Haha Yugi, you fell into my trap," Weevil says.

"Is that so," Yugi mocks.

The scene jumps to the group bumping into MIkki.

"So what's your last name," Joey asks as Yugi looks a bit suspiciously.

"I don't know, I'm an orphan," MIkki responds.

Mai walks up and challenges the group.

"I'll face you," MIkki jumps up.

"Pipe down I challenge you Joey," Mai says.

"Go Thousand Dragon," Joey yells

"No my Harpy Ladies," Mai wails.

"Hey Yugi that's not my brother," Mokuba yells.

"Blue Eyes White Dragon," Evil Kaiba says revealing the card.

"Dark Magic Attack," Yugi yells as he wins the duel.

"No helping," Mai yells.

"He doesn't need it, you got this Joey," MIkki yells.

"Time Roulette," Joey calls out.

"No my Red Eyes," Rex Raptor calls out.

"Hehe you have taken the bait," Mako Tsunami says.

"Go Ryukushin," Maco yells.

"Summon Skull," Yugi yells.

"Wow you got seven star chips," Yugi says seeing the glove.

"You guys want some snacks," Mikki says holding open her backpack.

Her deck falls to the ground and a card glows.

"Goodbye Oniichans," Mikki says.

"Yugioh!" Yugi calls out and reaches for her as there is a blinding light.

Yugi POV

I first met MIkki when we reached Duelists Kingdom. Every time she shows up I get this weird sense. I can tell she is hiding something but I don't think it is anything bad. It's like she knows things that the rest of us don't. She also keeps disappearing.

Then when we run into that night. She offers to share her snacks but has she been carrying it all around with her the entire time. Then when her cards and charm glow I feel magic. It's similar to my puzzle but different.

I see a card "Trial of the First Guardian" it shows an icy mountain. When she hugs me and calls me brother I feel my puzzle's magic swell. She steps away and spins

"Yugioh," I call out and I feel the spirit rise.

I reach out and manage to grab Mikki's hand.

As the light fades I see we are standing in a barren and icy landscape. Mikki is looking at me stunned.

"Yugi? What are you doing here? He said this is my trial to free Chatori," she says.

"What do you mean trial? Who said," I ask.

"Pegasus, he said I had to get through the trials to free their spirits and claim their cards. Then I could find my family," MIkki says as her choker glows.

Suddenly an Ice Wyvern swoops down. It's loud scream shocks Mikki out of her rant. Without missing a step she spins and draws a card.

"Fire Witch! Take out that lizard," Mikki calls out.

The monster on the card springs to life and starts casting a spell. It hits the wyvern and it goes down. Mikki grabs my hand and starts running. The witch floats along side us. We keep running until I see an outcropping.

"Mikki there," I call out steering her over.

As we catch our breaths I look at her. "Mikki who are you really," I ask.

"I told you I don't know my last name. My parents died in a plane crash and I survived with only a few duel monster cards and my choker. I was put in orphanages because they couldn't find my family," she says.

"That's terrible," I say.

"Pegasus found me a few years back. He's been kind of like a dad but his antics are more like a weird uncle. He payed for school and would even watch cartoons with me when I was sick. He would ask me about how I thought I survived," she takes a breath.

"How did you survive," I ask.

"I kept seeing 3 different spirits, a white griffin, an eagle with lightning in its wings and a crimson dragon. I called them Chatori of the Freezing Ice, Shakirion of the Striking Storm and Barackniph of the Raging Inferno. Pegasus seemed fascinated by the idea of them. We would talk for hours about what they could do and how they might look. It was like maybe they could be of use somehow. Instead of just drawing them and giving me the cards he said that for cards like these the right spirit was needed," she says sighing.

"But why send you to Duelist Kingdom," I ask.

"Well aside from being a top ranked Duelist in Europe. He sent me to Duelist Kingdom as a Starchip Hunter. Officially it's my job to eliminate people and make sure the ones to face him are only the best. He also said I would face the first trial to start finding the Spirits and my family," she says with a sigh.

"And you suspect I may be your brother," I say watching her.

She nods, "Pegasus pretty much said so."
She pulls the letter from her pack and I read it.

"Well don't believe everything he says. He is a master of deception," I say remembering my encounters.

"Yeah but I can usually read his lies, he did kind of raise me. Not to mention we do look a lot a like save our hair color and neckwear," she says.

Then we hear a shuffling and Mikki's monster floats in front of us.

I draw a card "Come forth, Obnoxious Celtic Guardian,"

What walks around the corner causes us both to start. A purple penguin in armor comes out. When it sees us it starts to panic. It turns back and yells "I found them."

I am about to send my monster forward when Mikki calls out "Wait! Penguin Soldier?"

It waddles over and puts its sword in the ground, "I bow to the Free Seeker and her brother."

"Wait, Seeker?!"
