It was at the young age of four that Izuku learned, not all men are created equal.

Life was not fair. It chose it's favorites, as well as those it hated. And it seemed, that the one it hated most, was Izuku. That's what he thought, anyway.

"Kacchan! Guess what?" Izuku was excited. Why, you ask? He finally got his quirk, that's why!

"What do you want, Deku?" Kacchan may have sounded angry, but Izuku knew he was curious.

"I got my quirk!" He hopped up and down, an enormous grin on his face.

"Well, what is it?" Kacchan crossed his arms, waiting impatiently for Izuku to explain.

"I haven't decided what to call it yet, but if I sing or hum a song, it'll.. um.. Mind control whoever hears it!" He grinned. Kacchan would think his quirk was so cool. They were gonna grow up and be heroes together!

Kacchan raised an eyebrow, his usual scowl deepening. "Hah?! That's a villain's quirk! How do you expect to be a hero with a quirk like that?" Izuku frowned.

"It's not a villain's quirk!" He wasn't a villain! Villains hurt people, and he was going to be a hero, not a villain!

"Yes it is! Only villains have quirks like that!" Then he turned around, leaving Izuku behind.

"But.. I don't wanna be a villain.."

—————————————————————

Izuku nearly ran into various people in his haste to get to school. He had stopped to watch a fight on the way, and if he didn't hurry he would be late. Not that anyone would particularly care.

He sighed in relief as the school's front gate came into view. As he headed towards his first class, he let his mind wander. Today they would be talking about career choices. Izuku dreaded it. He wanted to be a hero, that was certain, but he just knew they'd all call him a villain. They always did.

Izuku sat down in his seat, staring with a frown at the words engraved on his desk. Villain. Monster. Useless. Deku. He didn't understand what he ever did wrong. He'd never done anything to hurt them, so why did they do this to him?

His thoughts were interrupted by the teacher starting the lesson. He pulled out his notebook and started writing about Mt. Lady, the new hero he had seen on the way to school, as well as a few more things about Kamui Woods.

"You're all in your third year now, so that means it's about time you started thinking seriously about your future and what you want to do with your life." The teacher drawled, picking up a stack of papers. "I could hand out some Career Aptitude Tests, but why bother? You're all aiming to be heroes anyway!" He then proceeded to throw those papers.

With that, Izuku put his head down on his desk as his classmates showed off their quirks. "Those are all some very impressive quirks, but there's no power-usage allowed in school, get ahold of yourselves."

"Oi, teach, don't lump me in with these idiots!" Izuku lowered his head as much as possible. He'd rather not die today, thank you very much.

"I'm not gonna be stuck at the bottom with the rest of these rejects! They'll be lucky to end up as sidekicks to some busted D-Lister!" Bakugou put his feet up on his desk, smirking at the rest of the class.

"You think you're better than us, Bakugou?!"

"Oh, please, I'll take you all on!"

Izuku wanted to melt into the floor. "If I remember correctly, you wanted to go to U.A, right Bakugou?" Scratch that. Izuku wanted Bakugou to melt into the floor. That way, he wouldn't have to deal with him anymore.
