Schools only teach us things that happened after the war. I'm one of the only ones who know what happened before the war. My name is Kate. I've been hiding for the last two years. There's only three of us. John, Lauren and me. My family was killed in the war. I was only a baby. John saved me. He's the oldest in our group. Lauren is the youngest. John said the people who killed my family broke into my house and captured my family. The government controls everything. The only thing they provide is the basic necessities. They control our food, our clothing, our sleep schedule, and everything else. That's why I'm hiding. I hope that someday, I can escape and find a better life.
