A/N: Hi everyone! Now that chapter 17 is over, it's time to interview everyone's favorite carpenter, Tai! I really like writing these because it helps me get to know and develop my characters a little more, and hopefully is something fun for you, my readers!
Next week is back to our regularly scheduled programing so if fourth wall-breaking candid discussions with the characters aren't your thing, just skip this chapter. But if you do like it, please leave me a comment with your questions for James!

Evie: Hi Tai! Thanks for taking a break from work to let me interview you for our readers.
Tai: *Wipes sawdust from his face and hands* No problem. I could use a little break anyway.
Evie: Wow, what a pretty jewelry box! Is that what you were just working on?
Tai: Oh, yeah. *Picks up the wooden box and hands it over* I need to finish smoothing out the carvings a bit, but it'll be finished soon. It's a commissioned piece for a client's anniversary. I've been working on it between the usual furniture the Camp needs this month.
Evie: Speaking of Camp, that's my first question! What's your favorite thing about living here, and what's your least favorite?
Tai: Hm, I'd say my favorite thing is the people. Being such a small community, everyone gets to know each other and work together to really make the place feel welcoming and safe. I've been here most of my life, but I can't remember a time I've ever been made to feel unwelcome. Well... one person did, but we were just kids and kids can be like that.
Evie: I've heard about that incident...
Tai: Yeah, *wry chuckle* it's fairly common knowledge. I'd like to say that person and I have worked past our differences in the last 13 years, but we mostly just ignore each other.
Evie: Sometimes that's how it has to be. And I'm sure that's kind of hard in a small community like this.
Tai: It is, but it's not my least favorite thing about Camp. Honestly, I don't really feel like I have anything to complain about here, so my least favorite thing is probably that my mom couldn't be here. She couldn't come with us because she was sick. I know she'd have loved it here if she would have lived.
Evie: I'm so sorry for your loss, Tai. For all of them.
Tai: Thank you.
Evie: So, do you think you'll ever leave Camp?
Tai: I don't have any plans to. I don't have any intention of going to college since I already have a job I enjoy, and I don't feel like there's anyone to run away from or anything to run toward. I'm content. But you never really know what the future holds, so I guess I can't say I definitely won't.
Evie: I like that thought: "no one to run away from and nothing to run toward." It's very... you.
Tai: Haha... Thanks?
Evie: So maybe you know that some of our readers like to ship you with Odessa. They call it the "Odai" ship. What do you think about that?
Tai: O...dai...? Wow, that's different. *Laugh* Ok then. But... I can't say I don't like it. *Bites his lip* I mean, I'm quite possibly the captain of that ship if I'm honest, so... let's get sailing, I guess. *Nervous, slightly embarrassed laugh* Dear gods why did I say that?? Please don't tell her I said something so cheesy, and for the love of God don't tell James.
