Samuel's POV

Date: 3 February 2019

Time: 8:50 am

As the group left Mr. F's lab on their journey to maths they heard another bell, a bell that lasted longer than normal, it was the fire bell.
"Its the first day and they're already testing us?" I groaned
"Just be glad we don't have to deal with Mr. Porter babe"
"Yeah I'd  much prefer to leave the school grounds than go to maths Sami, why are you complaining" Harry boasted
"I just can't be bothered with this, it's tedious and annoying"
At that remark Avery charged ahead of the group looking upset.
"Pfft Women" Harry said earning him an elbow from his sister.
"Ow, it's true though"
"Her family was killed in a fire you idiot, ofcourse she's upset, this must be really hard for her"
"Harry and I didn't know babe, she obviously just doesn't tell people"
"Yeah, like you would tell everyone you meet about a tragedy from your past, you're so dumb some times Samuel" at that she stormed off after her friend
"You're in the dog house now Sami, she just called you Samuel, she knows you hate that, every one knows not to call you Samuel"
"I know let's just go before things get worse in here"

Third person POV

At that Samuel and Harry walked out of the building to the assembly point, and got in line to sign off their names on the list, they looked over the school building to see smoke rising, the school actually was on fire, and Samuel could see someone on the second story who wasn't coming out of the building, they were trapped.

Samuel acted entirely on impulse and ran into the school with major protest from every one around him, he sprinted the fastest he's ever been in his life and went through the hazzily lit corridor maze trying to find the stairs for the second floor, 'this place is so different when you can barely see' he thought, but he finally found it, the stairs were glowing orange from the light of the roaring frames on the floor above.

Samuel knew if he didn't act fast he'd lose his nerve and his breath, making 2 victims to the fire, he ran, ran faster than he did when he ran into the building up the stairs and through the wall of flames that were waiting at the top of the stairwell, as he went barreling down the corridor looking for the stranded person, until a look through a class window showed what he didn't want to see, inside the chemistry lab, was a student, a female student, an unconscious female student, Samuel didn't know how long she'd been unconscious but he knew that he had to get her out of there, he tried the door, but the door was locked, Samuel didn't know how or why the door was locked but he had to get through, he had to save her. He looked around the hall for anything he could use to break the glass, a pipe, a stone from someone's shoe, anything, But the hallway was clean,  there was nothing to use, Samuel knew what he had to Do, he reared his fist and forced it forward, the glass shattered upon contact and some was embedded into Samuel's hand, Samuel reached down for the handle and pushed it allowing the door to open, he had made it into the class, but how the hell was he going to get this girl out of the school with it filling with smoke, he couldn't carry her out the way he came, no way, so what was he going to Do?

He looked out the window to see what kind of drop there was to the ground, as he peered out he saw, on his own, he could make it, carrying the person he came to save, no way, there were no stairwells on the outer section of the building that weren't blocked off by smoke, Samuel could no longer leave the classroom as smoke started to seep in through the door, Samuel bolted to the door of the class and slammed it shut, slowong the flow of smoke into the class giving him time to think, he still needed a way to get himself and the girl out, he couldn't go out the windows of the top floor, he couldn't run through the school with her, or was that his only option, was his only choice to run to the front door of the school and get out, did he remember the route, could he run fast enough and carry her, 'fuck it' Samuel thought as he ripped off some material from the rooms curtain and tied it round his head over his mouth, he picked up the girl he came to save, he wasn't sure if he was going to make it out the other side but he knew he had to try.

Samuel opened the door and ran, he turned left, then right, then found the stair well, smoke was everywhere and the building was so hot it was unbearable, but he needed to keep going, as Samuel got to the bottom of the stairs he couldn't see anything through the smoke, he knew running through the smoke blind was dumb but it was his only choice, he bolted top speed, through the gray cloud that was completely surrounding him, he tried to see any sign of lighter cloud indicating an exit but no luck, he kept running until BANG Samuel ran into a wall, he quickly got up and picked up the girl he ran a new direction down a second corridor until he smashed through the glass of a door and was outside, as soon as he was free from the building the amount of smoke he inhaled got to him, and he fainted, dropping the girl he saved beside him.

The first responders rushed the two teenagers to the hospital both wearing oxygen masks to provide their lungs with what they were deprived of and put in observation rooms, Samuel's burns were now starting to show on the right side of his face, he was never going to look the same again, but what the doctors were really worried about were the deep scratches on the back of his neck, how could they have got there, did a crafter fall on him?
