Layla's POV :
It's been ten years since the death of my parents but it still feels like it all happened yesterday . I miss them a lot and all these years, although I was only seven then, I still blame myself for my parents' death if I hadn't persuaded them for a hike that day , maybe they wouldn't have left me .
"Layla!!" My grandma shouts my name growing tired of waiting for me.
"Coming grandma"
"Come and sit next to me" my grandma tells me
" Yes grandma you called me"
" I want to discuss something with you my child" she said
"Ookay I'm all ears granny" I say looking at her
"Good," she chuckles "Now I know that you have been noticing some changes in your life, you have gifts you don't even know how it suddenly came about and how it's even possible"
"Umm granny...." I say
Removing my eyes from total embarrassment and guilt for not telling her since she is the only one I have left in my family .
" O little one , you don't have to feel embarrassed about it."she tells me
"But granny..." I start talking but was cut off by her
"You know you can always tell me anything.
I'll listen to you and help you out , no matter how crazy it might sound Layla. You should have told me everything the minute you started experiencing it."my grandma scolds me
"Granny am sorry for not telling you
I thought you'd think I've finally lost it and I didn't want you to be worried about me."I said apologizing to my grandma .
" it's okay Layla , but do not repeat it again okay dear."my grandma tells me
"Okay granny, I promise I won't keep anything important from you again no matter how bizarre it might sound" I say laughing " But granny how did you know about my sudden abilities?" I ask her
"How I found out about it doesn't matter dear" My grandma says to me .
"Hmmm okay grandma . I won't force you to tell me but I still feel like I should at least know" I said looking at my grandma who was already getting irritated by my curiosity
"Okay fine ! grandma don't tell me it's not important again" I tell her not wanting to annoy her more
"Much better," she tells me smiling
" As you already know about your powers , am sure you know you also cannot continue going to your school . What do you think people will say if they were to find out about it ? What do you think will happen to you Layla?. I'm sure you already know what the outcome will be right?" she said asking me . When she doesn't get an answer she continues.
" I want you to attend a different academy . This academy will help you, guide you , teach you about your gift and how to control it.
You will also be taught other things as well. You know...your mother also attended the academy when she was young , sh..." I immediately interrupted my grandma from her speech on hearing my mom
"Granny did you say mom attended the academy" I say asking her with full excitement
"Yes dear , and she also excelled well in her studies too .she was always such a curious child much like you and also stubborn. At least we know where you got that from" she says laughing .
"Oh granny is not that stubborn, " I say in amusement and roll my eyes "Grandma what is the name of the academy?.." I ask her
"Emerald academy my dear." she replied me looking very happy
Emerald academy I said thinking aloud.Well one things for sure .... I sure as hell haven't heard about that institution before
