LIZZET'S POV~
"You hungry? We could get something to eat before I show you my favorite place. Its a secret, but I'd gladly show it to you," Jason says as we arrive at the beach in his car. It took a while to find a parking, apparently the whole city wanted to come to the beach today.
I wonder if Jason heard the growling coming from my stomach, it almost sounded like a lion trapped in a cage. "Sounds amazing right now," I told him, a slight blush coming onto my cheeks at my embarassment.
He grins, the edge of his lip lifting more on the right than the left. I now recognize it as his trademark. Something unforgettable about him. "Mexican food it is, then."
I raise an eyebrow, jokingly. "What if I don't like Mexican?"
A low grunt escapes his lips, maybe a laugh. "I've never met a person who doesn't like Mexican food and I'm willing to bet you love it," Jason mutters as he turns off the car and removes the keys.
"Well then you'd win the bet," I say in a voice more seductive than I intend. The air in the car becomes quiet and all that is left is Jason's brown eyes locked with my own. I feel his gaze devouring mine and the moment becomes warm. Something in my stomach drops and for a moment I think its hunger. Maybe it is. Jason slowly begins to close the space between us, his hand reaching for my waist, I tense and the same hot feeling in my stomach takes shape, but his hand never touches me. Instead he reaches behind me and unlocks the door, opening it.
"Forgot how to open the door, love? You were taking a while," Jason says in a low, husky voice. His trademark grin appears and my face immediately becomes extremely red. How could I be so stupid?
"Oh.. um, yea. Thanks." I stutter as I respond. I'm positive the blush is noticeable. Very noticeable. I quickly slip myself out of the car and pray that the breezy beach air will take my bright color away.
As we walk toward the Mexican restaurant just across the street, I suddenly become self-conscious of my appearance. My whole mid-section is on full blast and you can almost basically leave nothing to imagination, seeing that I have yoga leggings on. My hair is probably frizzy because of the running and I might be a little stinky after the workout. Plus who puts on makeup while going out to jog? I'm make-up less, I feel naked. Completely naked and ugly. In contrast, Jason is looking his best. A fitted black t-shirt, dark jeans hanging low on his waist, and his auburn hair tucked inside his red beanie. I frown, it doesn't look like he is heading to the beach at all. Which makes me think that maybe he lied...
But why?
Right then Jason, walking just a step in front of me, turns around, gazing at me through his nearly black eyes and I don't need an answer. To be with you, they seem to whisper. I am so stuck in the trance that I don't see the stop sign coming. Not at all. It's completely unexpected. I feel an arm go around my shoulder blades, pulling me quickly out of the way. "Would you mind staying away from stop signs, love?"
I look up at Jason, and gently push myself out of his arms. I would rather stay a few feet away from him right now before I do something stupid again. Two in a row, Liz. One more and you're out! You'll look like a complete dork! "Thanks," I say tersely.
He gives me his trademark grin in return. "No problem," Jason responds before we begin walking again. He shakes his head as he faces the floor while walking, fixing his glasses in the process. "You're very clumsy, love."
A short laugh escapes my chest. "No need to say. A blind person is more careful than me."
Jason's eyes glint with a sort of nostalgia as he chuckles lightly. "I'll tell you a story, to make you feel better. I used to be dunked into toilets, pushed into trashcans, beat until I gave up my money, splashed by chocolate milk. It was something normal in my life. You know those nerds on the tv, the ones that you laugh at? That was me."
I gaze at him sympathetically, lines of concern probably forming on my face. "Oh," I gasp in bewilderment.
A small smile takes place on his lips. "Who would've thought, right? Look at me now," he adds with a cocky hint to his voice, but now I see one layer beneath his skin and he looks nothing like before.
I bite on my lip gently, mulling over one thought in my head. "One question Jason, do you call everyone love?"
"No, actually. I've never called anyone love, but if its bothering you then maybe you should tell me your name?" Jason casts a small glance at me, an insinuating spark in his eyes.
I feel a small chuckle take place in my chest, my cheeks turning a different color. "Maybe I should. My name is Lizzet Catarina Almeida, but everyone calls me Liz," I add, with a smile after I see his eyes slightly widen in astonishment. I always like to mention my whole name since people always think I am white, especially with the blond hair. Which, don't tell anyone, but is actually fake. I dye it. Shhh, hush eveyone thinks its real. "My mother is Brazilian, but she has white qualities and my father is purely Mexican," I inform him, to complete his understanding.
He casts another small glance at me and then looks away again. "It must've been hard for you to pick a language."
I smile at him, something toothy before I begin explaining. "My mom was born in Mexico, a tourist place called Acapulco, there is where she and my father met. Her first language was Portueguese but she grew up speaking Spanish. Spanish was my first language but I know some Portueguese." I know I've blown his mind with so many different places and languages, so I let him take it all in for a moment.
Another small glance before his trademark grin reappears. "So technically you're not even legally white?"
"Nope, I wasn't even born here."
"Humphh," I hear, a low noise coming from his chest as we arrive at the Mexican restaurant.
I have been here before, the food is delicious, especially their tamales. Their taste is amaaaazing! The place is pretty small and crowded. I wonder why they choose to keep it this way with all the money they're making. I turn to look at Jason, which really I have to turn my head up to since he's like a whole ruler and a half taller than me. "And you, Jason? Any background story you want to tell me about?"
He scatches his beanie and then turns to gaze at me once more. Jason's gaze is purely innocent, there's nothing dirty about it, no secrets either. Through his eyes you seem to see his soul, something like that tasty dark chocolate. Not many people like dark chocolate, I love it. "Not as interesting as yours, Liz," he says, seeming to take a bite at my name to see how it tastes in his mouth. He smiles afterward and mutters something under his breath I don't quite catch.**************
We order to go. I wanted to pay my own food but Jason left me no choice, didn't even let me argue.
As I walk out the Mexican restaurant I see a boy and a girl around my same age, a couple. I almost roll my eyes at how perfect they are, the girl especially looks like she came out of a magazine with perfect waves of brown hair. I feel Jason tense by my side even if he is a foot away from me. I'm very good at perceiving emotions, "could smell them from a mile away" my best friend Diana always told me.Then I take a glimpse at Ms. Perfect's little boyfriend, who is awfully breathtaking I have to admit. His brown curls are swept to the back of his head, wearing that 'bad boy' kind of hairstyle from the times of the movie 'Grease.' No leather jacket by the way, but a loose white muscle shirt does a fine job of showing me what more there is to this gorgeous boy. I find my way up his body until I meet his eyes, a fine green-brown that lures me in and makes me feel all mushy inside. He grins, showing me his pearly white teeth and that is when I finally recognize him. How could I forget that smirk? The pervert. The pervert from last night, it's him. Shit.
Perv's eyes suddenly light on fire as he looks to my left and he lunges forward, attacking the guy next to me: Jason. I quickly back away from the scene, too confused to try to stop what's going on. My eyes focus and unfocus, I watch in slow motion as Ms. Perfect tries to break the two part and succeeds.
"What in hell, do you think you're doing Angel?!" Ms. Perfect bellows as she points at 'Angel's' chest. "This is not the place! Get over yourself!" Her face is full of fury and her jaw clenches and unclenches as she stares defiantly into Angel's eyes.
"Move Isabel! This isn't about you!" Angel's gaze is sharp but softens as he finally gives into his girlfriend's demands. I watch as he gives me a cursory look before walking off in the opposite direction, his strides careless and quick.
Isabel stays and helps me pick up Jason. I still haven't reacted. My eyes still haven't focused, yet I again manage to pick Jason off his feet once again, or maybe it is this Isabel girl. She looks pretty strong. Isabel smiles at him, pink lips lifting in a gentle, curved line. "Haven't seen you in a while loser," she mutters as she lets go of his hand. "Remember the old times?" The question is small, yet it can hold so many meanings. I furrow my eyebrows as I stare back at Jason who seems to be dazed.
He doesn't seem to see me. "Of course, Bella. Send Angel some kisses from me and tell him I love him," Jason says in a tone filled with sarcasm.
She lets go of a breath. "You're making a wrong choice Jason," Isabels says while pointing her chin at me. Wait, what? Me? "Someone else has got their eye on that one."
Jason finally turns to meet my eyes and he smiles, something tender and filled with consideration. "She's not a choice Isabel," he states tersely.
Isabel arches her eyebrow while looking me up and down. "You're right, she doesn't deserve to be called a choice," she hisses.
I frown at her and open my mouth to say something cynical but Jason interrupts.
"Choices are sluts. She isn't. Nice meeting you again, goodbye."
Isabel smirks at him before leaving. "Whatever, me trying to save your back over here for nothing." Her hips swing from side to side. Isabel's long, slim legs stalk past us to the direction where Jason went. I stare holes into her back, trying to decipher what the hell just happened.
"What the hell just happened?!" I demand while turning to look at Jason, who pretends to scratch his head.
"It's a long story," he murmurs, before taking me by the hand and slightly pulling on it to motion for us to walk. "But I'll give you some details."OMG!! I finally finished guys. I actually really liked writing this even though I had a writer's block while trying to. I had to introduce Isabel, whose character I really love. I hoped you guys liked this! Above are pictures.
