The Snake Trials - Chapter 1: Iain

“Iain relax, She'll be here. Her plane was probably delayed or something.” Noah explained.

3 months apart. All those nights staying up late just to calm her down before she goes to bed, that she wouldn't wake up back in the maze again. Using every lunch break to tell her good morning. One night when I should've been studying for my 1st test on the Hybridization course, I stayed up all night writing a letter to Nikki. I barely passed. 

“Calm down, we're in an airport in La Guardia, in one of the biggest cities in the country. What if she missed her flight, what if her adoptive family found out she's an elemental?” I questioned.

“Not unless she snitched to her step-brothers. Why are we in La Guardia, why do we have to wait for everyone to show up here?” Bianca asked. She sighed, disappointed that when she pickpocketed someone, they didn't have as much money she expected.

Bianca was a dark skinned African-Romanian. The most expensive thing she owned were her red and purple Nikes which she almost never took off. 
 
“Bianca, you know why. The airship is meeting us here anyways, Danny can't get to a portal and Nikki still has a cover to maintain.” Noah responded. Like most Dark Elementals, she wore strictly black and punk clothing. Her black hair was in a braid, her eyeliner was as so black and her jacket was you guessed it, black.

“Why did we get dumped into this? Why isn't Jace here?”

“He said he had business at China Town, whatever that means.” I explained. He demanded that this couldn't wait, he needed to do this.

Suddenly the Twins Ash & Ashlee Kurenai and Zayn came out of the janitors closet, presuming that's the portal from the Vulcan Isles. They had bright red shirts with Hispanic floral print and some cargo shorts. Zayn Denmark was very sweaty from the excessive heat, particularly in his hoodie and jeans. 

“Hey guys, How was Isla Vulcan?” I asked.

“Great, Almost perfect. Till Ashlee brought up that we wouldn't be home for Dia de los Muertos.” Ash glared at his sister.

“How was supposed to know we weren't supposed to tell Papa yet?” Ashlee demanded. The Twins ranted in Spanish. Servants came out of the wall. They looked exhausted from carrying several amounts of luggage. Celina was wearing a Pikachu hat, a white Super Smash Brothers with a  green skirt and a fendi purse.

“Um, Celi… aren't the bags a bit much? I know you're a princess of the Darkthorne colonies in Japan but they look like they are about to collapse.” I pointed out. 

“Who, them? They'll be fine.” Celina smiled. She turned around and yelled at them in Japanese. “Naze anata wa koko ni tatte imasu ka? Watashi ga izen itta yō ni sore o jūsho ni motte kite kudasai!”

Out of fear, the hobbled and carried the luggage away, trying to fit them into one cab.

Water came leaking from the men's bathroom floor. Evans came out soaking wet. His clothes was a wreck, he had an enormous seaweed stench with a jar of Ben & Jerry’s. 

Noah held her nose. “Jesus Evans, what happened to you?”

“Remember before we left for summer, we went to Arcturia and Silas drugged all of us and we were out for several days? Well my boyfriend was pissed I didn't call him for all the time. He said he doesn't want to date someone who gets kidnapped 24/7.” Evans sighed.

“Oh I'm sorry to hear that Evans-chan.” Celina spoke, covering her nose. 

“Is this everyone?” Evans asked.

“Jace said he'd catch up, we’re meeting Danny at his house, and Airlene is at the . We're just waiting for Nikki.” Noah responded.

And with Nikki showed with a roller bag. She wore a white plaid shirt with a Black Veil Brides shirt underneath, a jean leathered skirt and some rubber bands on her arms.

“Sorry I'm late. My step-brothers made me miss my flight so I had to go on the next one.” Nikki admitted.

“Why'd they do that?” I asked her.

“Cody and Mikey said that if I leave, I won't come back and they'll miss me too much.”

Celina let out an aww just before I gave her a very large bear hug.

“Ok mates, let's go find Danny and Jace.” I exclaimed. We found a rather expensive apartment which was supposedly Danny’s address. We knocked on the door and found a woman in her early 30s, she had a bright yellow shirt covered by a smock, brown hair and with a smile on her face.

“Oh you must be Danny’s friends. I'm Larissa, I'm Danny’s mom. I didn't realize he was so popular.” Larissa smiled.

“You're Danny’s mom?” Noah arched an eyebrow. “Your younger than we expected.” 

“Pfft. I'm not that young. Come in, I have cookies for you.” Larissa spoke joyfully.

We all came in and sat on the couch. Larissa gave us a fresh batch of cookies, each with macadamia nuts and white chocolate chips and some lemonade. The Twins each added hot sauce to their cookies.

“Great cookies Miss Michaelis.” Bianca stated, stuffing her mouth with cookies.

“Oh I'm not Miss Michaelis anymore. Not since I got divorced a few months ago. Call me Larissa or Miss Lincoln. But I prefer Larissa.”

I heard about why Larissa and her now ex-husband are divorced. It's because Danny was a shelled elemental. His family has magical ancestry but no one has magic in his family line in generations, Danny was the 1st one to get his powers.

It wasn't uncommon to divorce because your child was a shell. Most shelled elementals go to live in human colonies and choose to mate with humans. Some humans divorce their shelled mates because they can't stand to knowing that their child was an elemental.

But other reason would be the shell not wanting to deal with their child since they just escaped from the shame of not having magic and now their child has it. 

Danny’s father thought it was best if he left because he couldn't live with the fact that Danny has powers and he doesn't. That cunt. He left his loving wife and only son because Danny was born what he is. Larissa divorced him then and there.

Despite not coming from a world of magic, she still loved her son. 

I munched on one of her amazing cookies. “So where is Danny?” I asked.

“Right here. Sorry, I was finishing packing up.” He admitted. Compared to most elementals he was rather scrawny despite the fact he ends more than an elephant. His pants were baggy so he had to wear a very large belt. Like most Amperans he had blonde hair, he wore a long sleeved shirt and a shirt that said. 'I never got my Hogwarts letter so I'm leaving Camp Halfblood to volunteer for the Hunger Games.'

His bags weighed more than him so Bianca had to help carry it, he received a box of desserts and hugged his mother goodbye. For a moment I envied him because he had his mother.

We took the train to Chinatown. Noah whipped out her GPS tracker of Jace. Jace was sick of Noah getting kidnapped so he notioned for a GPS tracker on her earring. She only agreed if Jace was willing to do the same.

“According to this, it said he should be here.” Noah read the coordinates. Apparently, he was yelling in the marketplace. 

“You know what's the problem with an Asian pet store, there's a kitchen in the back!” Jace hollered. His resulted in Noah pulling his ear. 

“This was the business that you couldn't wait for, yelling at the Chinese!” Noah demanded.

“When else would I get the chance?” Jace shrugged.

I get an alert from Airlene. According to her, Ice Storm just made a embargo on ships and any means of travel on the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean so we'd would have to meet them in Edinburgh if we wanted to catch up on the airship.

“Guess we're taking the portal to Edinburgh then.” I admitted. Noah typed up something on her tablet and a portal appeared. We walked through the portal and wandered into Waverley Station.
