Snake Trials - Chapter 9: Ashlee
I keep biting my lip, feeling the bumps on my arm. Slowly, I marched towards Rakesh.
"Your brother will be fine, he'll be released later today. Anyways, how was the therapist I assigned you?" Rakesh asked, writing something down.
"Yes... she's nice. Listen Rakesh, do you think I should go through with it?" I gulped.
"According to Carly Jane's policy I can't be the one to answer that, but know this. Sometimes the easy choices aren't the right one. It's your body, I'm only here to heal you." Rakesh added. I nodded then walked to the dorm. My room was so empty without Ash. I pulled out the box. I saw it, my binder.
I hated it so much. My step-father insisted I wear it. My hands shook at the birth certificate, and the letter that went with it. For 13 years I was a male. My doctors mixed up my gender so I didn't know I was a girl till I turned 13...
When my father died and I had to live with my step-dad and my brother, he made me wear a binder, cut me and made be something I wasn't.
"No puedo ser una niña? Why I can't I be a girl. The doctors made a mistake." I asked, feeling my numerous split ends.
My step father sighed, his hands behind his back. "Because mija... think of your brother, his status, his reputation. The shame he would feel if people knew about you. All my plans for him, for Isla Vulcan, it'll all be over. Besides, no one wants an princesa when they can have a Rey.
Those words stung me. Why would they want me, a fatherless girl with GID on the street when they could have Prince Ashton.
I burnt my binder. I winced as there was a sharp pain in my arm. I almost forgot about the empathy link with Ash and I. I feel his physical and emotional pain as well as my own.
I got changed and the living room was filled with the scent of rotting kelp. Evans was still refusing to shower after the heartbreak he felt with his now ex-boyfriend last summer. I saw buckets of sea water filled balloons.
"Hey Lee." Zayn smiled. "Evans and I are teaming up Evans' new half sis and getting back his ex. Wanna come?"
"I'd love to but... I'm not waterproof."
"Oh... right. Well any other ideas?" Zayn asked.
"I got some firecrackers from Isla Vulcan that smell like rotten cheese. Would that work?" I questioned.
"Much, Thanks Ashlee." Zayn smacked my lips against mine as I gave him the foreign fireworks.
"Anything to stop him from stinking up the dorm." I pointed at him.
I got dressed as I headed to Aenar's class. I ducked as a boy was thrown across the room. He was the South Korean boy that just transferred to ECA, Carnie McFlytrap.
"Carnie!" Iain yelled. "You ok?"
He shuttered before getting up. "That depends, how many stars are in the room right about now?"
"This is who we were living with now?" I looked at Iain.
"Yes... he was the waiting list for the Alpha dorm. Now that Ran and O'Neil are gone, He and some girl named Peony Velocity gets their dorm." Iain sighed, clenching his fist.
Noah ran up to Carnie. "I'm so sorry, I did realize how light you were when I kicked you."
"It's fine... I'm just glad I only suffered minimal injuries." Carnie commented.
Jace patted Noah. "Remind me why we added him to the waiting list again?"
Suddenly, an alarm rang through the ship. Explosions occurred over and over as the airship rocked. Noah pulled out her tablet, observing through the cameras.
"Snake Clan, they're attacking the ship!"
"Sweet, no class then!" Jace cheered, pleased at thought of not doing training exercises.
"Jace, this is serious! Ashlee, wake up Celina. We need every man! Or in this case woman." Iain commented.
"Their on board!"
"How many do we get to kill?" Jace grinned, casually sharpening his new weapon.
"Three, but they're armed." Noah pulled out her bow.
I shook Celina awake and she pulled out her war fans. Three people, our age walked in. One male and two females. They had dark, ebony skin, black hair. One of the girls had gothic clothes and a set of twin braids, and the other's hair wrapped in a bun and wore thick glasses.
The male wore cargo shorts and a linen shirt and hoodie. He also had an Egyptian bracelet and a snake vemon pendant.
"This is it?" The gothic girl commented. "Thought we'd have more of a challenge."
The girl wearing her bun, stood bored. "This is a colossal waste of time and waste of resources. I don't know why Shane insisted we needed the explosives for this."
"Shut it Gwen, we're here now so let's just grab it and go!"
Suddenly they argued, completely ignoring us. We all stared, confused at them. Finally, Iain broke the silence.
"Can we help you?" Iain asked, hiding the dragonstone sword behind him.
They stopped arguing. The girl with the braids stepped out.
"Yes, we want the dragonstone sword. Give it to us and we won't have to shed any blood here." The braided girl insisted.
"Ummm..." I interrupted. "Do you even know who you're talking to? We're the Elemental Heroes, we kinda have this destiny to stop you and the other clans so... we can't give up the sword."
Gwen sighed. "Then you leave us no choice, Shane."
Shane took a deep breath, then suddenly he let out a sonic scream. We fell flat on the floor as our ears went numb.
"Protect the sword!" Noah yelled.
"WHAT?" Iain hollered, covering his ears. Suddenly the screaming stopped, but our ears still ringing. We got up but the braided girl appeared. Suddenly, Noah, Celina, Danny and Bianca got pierced with venom, as she cartwheeled towards them. They fell down, unable to move.
I gulp but concentrated. I pulled out my hand created a blue fireball in my hand. Then, all of a sudden each of them pulled out the impossible. Three of the dragonstone swords in their hands.
