Snake Trials - Chapter 14 - Nikki
Never have I seen a more clean town. It was actually more amazing than expected. The plants were well kept. The buildings are made of marble and the floor was a smooth sandstone. Hybrid kids were playing soccer. Everything was peaceful.
In a way it looked a less technologically advanced version of Element City, yet it worked.
“This is the Snake Clan Capital? But it's so peaceful and less frightening then I imagined.” I admitted.
“Well duh…” Lindsay rolled her eyes. “Most of the things we say goes on here is to scare the pure elementals and the other clans away. My father's vision was a world were hybrids and shells could be accepted. But he knew that wouldn't come easy so he conquered Vega and set out to start the war.”
I looked back at Airlene. She was shaking, her fists clenched. Bits of her glasses foggy as she tried to hold back tears.
“You ok Wheeler?” Iain looked back at her.
“Nothing, just some bad memories. Let's go.” Airlene pressured us on. We kept on, seeing more of Vega. The waters, crystal clear. The breeze nice and cool. I could stay here forever.
Suddenly, snakes surrounded us. They made a path as the Snapes arrived, each wielding the dragonstone swords.
Shane smiled evilly. “Well, well, you saved us the trouble of tracking you down. Lindsay, you traitor- we've been worried sick abou-”
Shane dropped the sword instantly.
“Uh, Shane?” Annie looked at her brother.
“Airlene… is… is that really you?” Shane stuttered.
“Yeah, it is.”
“Hold up, you two know each other?” Lindsay question.
“Unfortunately yes… Shane's my ex-boyfriend.” Airlene admitted.
Shane whistled. Snake clan soldiers came.
“Take her away, but don't hurt her. I don't need her to see this. Same with Lindsay” Shane ordered as they drag them both away.
I tried to go after her but they pointed their swords at us.
“Now that that is settled. There's still the matter of the Kurenai twins.” Annie commented.
“What did they do to piss you off?” I asked, staring at the point near my neck.
Shane and Annie had fireballs in their hands. One white, one blue.
“Wait… you want to kill them because of that?” Iain growled, his fangs out. “I get that blue Phoenixians are powerful buts that's Lee's genetics.”
“No! Well… that's not the main reason. It's what they did 2 years ago.” Shane admitted.
“You guys remember that?” Ash had his hands up.
Carnie gulped. “Whatever you did, It couldn't hurt to apologize.”
Ashlee sighed. “We weren't supposed to be the heroes… they were. Their the real reincarnations.”
“How come you two have hero abilities then?” Danny sweated, trying not to get injured by Gwen.
“They were too violent. Carly Jane may be their aunt, but even she realized they were the wrong people. So Aenar gave it to us, we became the heroes instead of them.” Ash bit his lip.
“You took away our family's birthright, our swords!”
“And you destroyed most of the Cyclonian colonies!” Ashlee taunted. “Get over it!”
The swords were pointed closer at us.
“Wait, where's the Shadow elemental?” Gwen pointed out.
We heard loud yelling. The ground shook like crazy. We couldn't believe our eyes.
“Is that a giant snake?!” I asked.
“Yip-Ki-Ye MOTHER FUCKERS!” Jace yelled, trying to steer a giant snake as if it was a bull.
I took my chances and turned Invisible. I ran towards Gwen and snatched the Dragonstone sword. I ran towards Jace and climbed up the snake.
“Perfect timing Jace, how do you know how to steer?”
“Good question Monroe, I don't!” Jace admitted, laughing.
“MY SWORD!” Gwen yelled.
“MY SNAKE!” Shane also yelled.
“MY REVENGE!” Annie yelled loudest as the twins ran for cover. Annie whistled as snake came out of the sewer system and dragged them away.
They tried to take Iain but the snakes kept turning to gold. Danny and the twins were dragged away but Carnie and Venus were nowhere to be seen.
“Uh, Jace?” I asked.
“Yeah?”
“What do we do now?”
“I got it but I need the sword.. “
“Ok.” I coughed up the weapon and gave it to him. He stabbed the snake in the back of it's neck and Gwen came running.
“Give back the sword!” Gwen yelled.
“Well if you insist!” Jace yelled back, tossing the sword over the side. Gwen caught it but when she turned around, Iain slit her throat with his dragonstone sword and she fell, simply bled to her death.
“Damn it, I hate in-laws!” Iain gritted.
Jace climbed down. “Aw man, I thought this was supposed to be a fun murder trip. Now we gotta save Wheeler and the twins!”
“At least we got two dragonstone swords. Iain, any ideas?” I questioned.
“Yeah but it ain't pretty.” Iain shuttered. He opened the hatch to the sewer.
“We’re going in through the sewer?” I whined as I pinched my nose.
“Got any other suggestions?” Iain commented, plugging his nose as he and Zoey climbed down. Jace followed through, as did I.
