Hello. My name is Layla Jacobs. I am an American girl who lives in Seoul, South Korea. My dad has been in the military for a long time, so we have never stayed in the same place. It is just me and my dad. Last month my dad received a notice that he will be permanently stationed in Korea. My dad and I packed up and left just like we have been doing for 14 years.
Now I am in Seoul. I don't speak Korean so I've been taking online school. All day I listen to the sound of the keyboard. All day I long for a friend. It's very lonely here. I basically live by myself since my dad is always at the border and only comes home once a month. I never thought it would be like this. I never thought I would be living all alone at age 14, but here I am. I can't drive yet so I have to walk everywhere. I wake up around 7:00 am and do my school work. After that, I walk to work. Finding a job was really hard since I don't speak Korean, good thing McDonald's hires anyone.
