The Second Generation (Kantai Collection fanfic)

Prologue

Third Person POV

The Abyssls a fleet that came from the depths of the sea the merciless attacks drove Humanity from the seas. But in Humanity's time of need Heroins emerged these girls possessed the spirits of ships from the past with their armaments known as Outfits they began to fight back. But after sometime the Ship Girls had a harder time fighting back it seems like the Abyssls grew in numbers the more they destroyed there had always seemed like there were more of them. Humanity panicked the girls themselves could fight but the number counts never seemed to get better so a new project was started an attempt to make a new generation of the fleet it took two years to find the first person able to become a one of the Second Generation it was a male he became the first. After the first successful case more and more signed up male and female alike more and more of the Second Generation were made but their numbers couldn't reach even close to the number of the first generation. A small force of four Second Gen ships along with a First Gen ship were on their way to a naval base that also had a new Special type Destroyer there but our tale begins with something else.

-The Atlantic Sea a few mouths before time of day is midday-

A Second Gen ship a destroyer by the name of Maelstrom had spotted a combat group of Abyssls he was alone due to it still being the testing period of must Second Gen ships he radioed for assistance. Then he went into battle to stop them from advancing as behind him some miles was a port city his call was received by a small battle group it had Iowa a First Gen battle ship along with her however was another Second Gen ship. This was a male ship named Conquer he was a modified Bismark battleship there was also another two Second Gen but well two of them couldn't be called ships. The first one was a male named Silver Spitfire an advanced Jet with VTOL capabilities the other was a massive flying fortress and was also the first of the Second Generation he was known as Holmes he being the Flagship of the fleet ordered the rest of his fleet to move out. Once they got there they found a heavily damaged destroyer along with a couple of Abyssal heavy cruisers a carrier and four destroyer class ships there were eight of them but Maelstrom sunk those. Iowa was the first to open fire on the Abyssal fleet her first barrage took out the two destroyers that were closest to Maelstrom Holmes from his leg mounted catapults lunched torpedo bombers while they were getting into range Silver fired his missiles at the heavy cruisers. They dealt a good bit of damage but it wasn't enough to sink them Conquer fired his main cannons he had high yield explosive ammo that took out the cruisers and remaining destroyers. The torpedo bombers dropped their load the torpedoes slammed into the carrier it got off a few dive bombers they went after Maelstrom Holmes himself got in the way of it and opened fire with his own weapons he had a few sets of miniguns that took the enemy air squadrons out. On the way back they practically had to carry Maelstrom to prevent him from sinking once they made it back to their port the higher ups at that port said they didn't at the moment have the resources his specific class of destroyer needed to be repaired.

Holmes, Silver, and Conquer argued had he not been there the town close by would have suffered damage but before anything else could be said Iowa came in with said person. The only thing different about him is that he was glowing blue so he was sent to the factory to be remodeled as he was the first Second Gen to have this happen no one knew what was going to walk out of that door what did was almost someone else he know had the name of the Hellstorm battleship with a full five cannons two on his knees two on his hands and one on his back his hair was ginger and he had blue eyes without his equipment he wore a red shirt and blue pants. The looks for the others Holmes had brown hair and also blue eyes he wore a blue shirt along with a black hoodie and black pants. Silver Spitfire had silver hair and wore mainly white clothing his eyes were also silver. Conquer himself was a big man towering above most others he wore black and red mostly his eyes one was blue the other is black. After this they were ordered to form a strike force yes it was a strange force a flying fortress, a jet, and three battle ships but Second Gen ships were indeed strange ships. 

-Three mouths later-

American Admiral: "You five have been a great force for this base but you are no longer to be stationed here."
Holmes: "What sir then where are we supposed to be?"
AA: "The Naval District a place in Japan is going to be doing operations to try and take back their sea. The good news they have some powerful ships there and the plans to go ahead with it the bad news they don't have any Second Generation ship."
Conquer: "With all due respect I don't see how that's our problem."
AA: "I knew you wouldn't see it they don't have any we have more then just you four they need the help a few other ships are going with you. This is my final order to you Strike Force Alpha head out and make it to the Naval District in Japan. There you will follow the orders of the Admiral there understood?"
Alpha: "SIR YES SIR!"
AA: "Dismissed."

With that the force saluted and walked out of the office they gathered up their stuff put on their Outfits and began to travel the ocean towards Japan it took them a month to get there as they had to stop a few times. 

At the Naval District.

A force of Abyssals had came within two miles of the base Carrier Group One along with the Third Torpedo Squadron were deployed to combat the approaching fleet the Abyssal fleet had six destroyers, two light cruisers, two heavy cruisers, a battleship, and two carriers. The Japanese fleet started off well sinking three of the destroyers and a light cruiser with the first wave of planes the Abyssal carriers lunched their own bombers and sent if after the Torpedo squad. It started off well of them but due to the barrage of from the two heavy cruisers one of the ships was separated from the others the dive bombers took advantage of this and went after her due to her inexperience she collapsed. Three dive bombers dropped their altitude heading for her before they could drop their bombs three blue streams of light hit them the girl looked at her allies but they were just as surprised as she was. She looked at the direction the beams came from Hellstorm was there he fired the cannons on his hand his HE shells were loaded there it took out a carrier and damaged the battleship.

Hellstrom: "And to think Holmes doesn't like me going off on my own. I'm the second fastest in this force!"

The Abyssal's turned all of their attention to the new threat this lead the rest of the destroyers and the light cruiser into getting sunk due to torpedoes hitting them. The two heavy cruisers fired volley then were hit with one Conquer had gotten into range this sunk the cruisers Hellstorm was hit by a few shell but didn't take much damage. The last carrier began lunching more aircraft but they were all shot down before they could get to far from that carrier Silver sped past firing his two hand machine guns then a heavy bomber from Holmes dropped a big bomb on the carrier sinking it. The two squadrons form the base went over to Conquer, Iowa, Hellstorm, and Silver as they were the only one's there at the moment the bomber flew off before the girls could ask where it went they heard something approaching. They got themselves ready for battle but stopped once they saw how relaxed the others were then Holmes came into view on top of his Outfit.

Akagi: "What is that?"
Conquer: "That guy up there he is the flagship of this force and a flying fortress."
Kaga: "That can't be called a ship."
Hellstorm: "We tell him that all the time."
Holmes: "I can hear you! Greetings ships of the Naval District I'm Holmes mind taking me to your Admiral?"
