"I was never going to make it. My legs felt like jelly and my head was spinning so fast I didn't comprehend what happened next. All I know is one moment I was on the ground and the next I wasn't. I heard a faint voice call out to me while shaking me. The distress in the voice was evident as I looked up to see Evan. A faint smile spread across my face before everything went black and I wilted in his arms."

Bella

I groaned as I opened my eyes, which closed soon after due to the sudden brightness. I opened my eyes again slowly, blinking a few times to clear my vision. I looked up and saw white walls and panic began creeping in. I was back in the room at the HYDRA base. They didn't get me back. Was that just a dream? Evan didn't come for me? Thoughts ran through my mind at rapid speed and before I knew it, my breathing was also becoming faster and sharper every second. I didn't even realize I was hyperventilating until Evan rushed into the room and grabbed my hand. "Shh calm down, Bella. It's okay. You're okay. You're home, Bella." He said as he stood in front of me and grabbed the sides of my face. My breathing slowed down again and Evan's face turned from one of panic to one of relief. Once I was fine again, I grabbed Evan's shoulders and wrapped my arms around his torso. "I-I missed you so much," I said as I grabbed the back of his hoodie tightly. "It was so scary, Evan," I said as tears streamed down my face. "She-She's my-" My sentence was cut off by a sob. "Bella, I need you to calm down, okay? You don't have to talk about it right now." He said as he pulled away from the hug just enough so he could place a soft kiss on the top of my head before melting back into it again. We stayed like this for a few minutes longer before I let go of Evan. He sat back on the end of the bed and placed his hands on top of my knees. I wiped the tears from my eyes with the sleeves of my hoodie before sniffling again and looking down at my hand in my lap. "Hey?" Evan asks me. I could tell he was looking at me but I couldn't bear to look at him, knowing who my mother was. I continued staring at my hands as tears fall from my face and onto the blanket in front of me. Evan grabbed my chin and forced me to look up at him. He held his hand there while he spoke. "Bella, look, I don't know what happened there, but I want you to know that you can tell me anything. I will always be here for you, no matter what." He said as he dropped his hand from my hand and placing it on top of mine. I looked at Evan and immediately got lost in his eyes. They weren't a regular brown, they were like honey in the sunlight. They made his freckles stand out, along with his long brown curly locks. I smiled shyly as I looked down at our hands, which he had now intertwined. "I know," I said as I looked back up at him again with a small grin. He smiled back at me. "Good." He said as he squeezed my hands tightly before leaning forward and kissing my forehead. I couldn't stop myself from blushing as he backed away, releasing our hands. "You need some food?" He asks me with a knowing smirk. "Food?" I ask hopefully with a twinkle in my eyes. Evan chuckles before taking my hand and helping me out of the bed and leading me into the kitchen. I'm so glad I'm back home.

Evan

I listened as Tony and Bella argued in the living room. With these two hardheads, the argument could last hours. I groaned as I walked into the kitchen to pop some popcorn. Gotta love a little drama, right? Anyways, I walked to the cabinet and grabbed an individual bag of popcorn. I shifted to my right to put the time on the microwave before placing the bag inside. I heard footsteps coming towards the kitchen as I grabbed a water bottle from the fridge. "Can you hand me one, wolfy?" Wanda asks me as she waltzes into the kitchen in pajamas. I nod before tossing the water bottle to her without looking behind me. She catches the water bottle with a huff. "I said hand, not toss, Evan." She says in a slightly irritated tone. "Oh, you know my name now, eh?" I say as I laugh lightly before walking towards the microwave to retrieve my popcorn. Wanda just punches me "lightly" on the shoulder as she passes by. "Oww," I say as I glare at her. "Oh pLeaseeee, Evan Stark. You are so dramatic. I've seen you go through worse pain than that." She says in a mocking tone as she rolls her eyes. I just glare at her again before shrugging her off and walking back towards the living room. I sit down in my favorite spot on the couch as I watch the argument continue between my dad and best friend. "-o! I can take care of myself, Tony. I don't need protection!" Bella protests as she throws her hands in the air with an annoyed face and tone. "Bella, you were just kidnapped by HYDRA! Did you really think we would just let you go back to normal the second you got back?" Dad asks as he places his hands on his hip, waiting for her answer. "Fine. Who's gonna be my 'babysitter'," She asks as she does quotation marks around the word babysitter. Dad drops his hands down and holds them infront of his torso. "Peter." He says nonchalantly. "PETER?" Bella exclaims as she makes a face like he just said he was going to chop her legs off and make her crawl around everywhere. "Yes. Is there a problem with that?" Dad asks sassily. "IS THERE A PROBLEM? YES, THERE IS A PROBLEM. PETER IS MY BROTHER! HE CANNOT BE FOLLOWING ME AROUND 24/7! I WILL NOT HAVE IT," She exclaims as her ears turn red with anger. Dad sighs loudly. "There is no one else to do it, Bella. You need to have protection." Dad says. "I'll do it," I say as I stand up beside Bella. "When did you get here?" Dad asks me as he scrunches his brows down. "I've been here the whole time. But that's beside the point. I have all my classes with Bella and we are pretty much with each other all the time anyway, so why not me?" I say as I walk closer and run my hands through my hair. "Actually, that's not a bad idea," Dad says as he looks to the side like he's thinking really hard about something. I look at him just in time to see him lightly smirk before returning back to the conversation. "Okay, yeah that will work out good." He says with a small smirk. The only thing I could think was, "Oh no, he's planning something."  I just smiled before grabbing  Bella's wrist and dragging her out of the room. "Thanks, Tony!" Bella calls out to dad before we leave the room. "Any time, kid." He says with the same smirk on his face.

Bella

I have to start training more now. And even harder. I can't let myself be taken again. They could use me against everyone and I can not let that happen. I know too much to just be a family friend. I didn't really think about it until the fight with the HYDRA soldiers, but I would be a great Avenger. If I could only convince Tony and the others to let me in. This means I have to train hard, keep my grades up, and prove I don't need someone following me 24/7 for protection. "I'm not a toddler! I can take care of myself," I exclaimed as I grabbed my Calculus textbook then slammed my locker shut. I spun the lock to wipe the code. "You good, fam?" Lily asks me as she shuts her locker and places her hand on my shoulder gently. I shook my head violently to get out of my daze. "Y-yeah. Can we talk after school? There's something I need to tell you. I'll see you around," I say before throwing my bag over my shoulder and walking to class with a slight frown on my face. I get to my chemistry class and sit at table 1-A while I wait for the rest of the class to get there. I pull out my book and continue reading from where I left off. I didn't notice anyone had walked up until I looked behind me and saw a shadow towering over me. Without hesitating, I swung my fist as hard as I could towards the person's head, landing a hit on his cheek. Wait, his. Boy. Evan. Crap. As soon as my fist made contact with Evan's cheek I realized it wasn't someone trying to murder me but my best friend. "I'M SO SORRY, EVY!" I yelled as I stood abruptly, causing the top of my head to collide with his chin. "I-" Evan started to say but cut off by my head. "OKAY, I AM SO SO SORRY!" I exclaimed as I immediately looked at Evan's cheek and chin. "I'm fine, Bella," He said as he tried pulling my hands away. I continued searching while I held his face in my hands. "Bella, chill, I'm fine!" He repeated, still trying to push me off. "BELLA!" He finally screeches, causing me to back away. "Right, sorry again," I said as I tucked my hair behind my ear shyly. "It's okay, Bella, you didn't mean to," He says as he pats me on the head like a small dog. "Alright to your seats, everyone!" Mr. Tate states as he picks up a chart off his desk. This can only mean one thing... seating arrangements. I imagine jumping out a window as I wait for him to call out names. "Alright, in today's class, we are getting a new seating arrangement to give Ms. Bella Parker a chance to actually get a partner this time!" He says as he looks at me. Twenty eyes dart in my direction with cold, dark stares. "N-No, I-It's really- It's fine. I prefer w-working alone anyway," I stutter as my classmates continue staring at me, some still not even blinking. "This is a lot scarier than HYDRA," I thought as I looked at my hands resting in my lap. "No no no, now. Bella, we are going to do a new seating arrangement. Hopefully, you guys will talk to some classmates that you haven't had the pleasure of talking to yet," Mr. Tate says joyfully. The entire class groans out loud as they finally stop glaring at me and turn to the front of the room. I exhale a long breath as I no longer feel eyes burning into my very being. "-kay and next we have Lily Mannors and Adam Young at table 1-B." Mr. Tate reads aloud. I look at the two love birds as they sit on the opposite sides of the room, blushing as they move to the table next to me. As soon as Lily sits down, she looks back at me with red cheeks and a nervous grin. I give her a double thumbs up with a small grin. She smiles shyly before turning around again and twidling with her pencil again. My best friend is lovesick. I stare off into space until I hear another familiar name. "Zach Featherette and Jenna Carter at table 3-C," Mr. Tate states. Zach looks at Evan at silently glares at him while Evan cackles as quiet as possible in his seat. The reason why they're laughing so hard? Jenna Carter is the most preppy white girl known to mankind. She also smells like Victoria Secret like 24/7. Anyways, Zack trudges over to his seat as slowly as possible before scootching his chair as far away as possible while sitting on the farthest edge away from Jenna. I nearly bust out laughing when he looks at me with pure disgust and pain in his eyes. Mr. Tate looks around the room before stating, "Alright looks like that's all, now turn to page 58 and start re-". He's cut off by Evan's hand shooting up. "Excuse me, Mr. Tate," Evan says as he waits for Mr. Tate to acknowledge him. "Yes, Mr. Mannors," He says as he waits for Evan to continue. "You forgot about me," Evan says as he picks with his fingernails nervously. He hates talking infront of people. "Oh, me too," I add. Two other people raise their hands, indicating him missing them too.  "Oh, silly me. Here let me look. Okay, So we have Ms. Everest with Mr...... Tucker at table C-." Mr. Tate states as he looks up at them as they move to their seats by each other. Evan and I exchange hopeful glances at each other as we wait for him to finish. "That leaves Mr. Mannors partnered with Ms. Parker at table 1-A."
