"HEY, DINGUS, YOUR children are here!" robin's voice called out as steve slid open the glass window. his sister, becca, had her legs propped up on the small table in the back room. her small 'scoops ahoy' sat atop her straight, brown hair as she sipped on a soft drink.
"again? seriously?" steve stared at the group of teenagers who just stared back at him. mike wheeler, who stood directly in front of robin, hit the bell once more. the older teen opened the door for them as the group walked towards the back. becca had gotten up and was leaning against the wall, watching in amusement. they passed by the younger, by only a few months, harrington. each giving her a quick hug before walked down the long hallway towards the theater. "come on, come on!" her brother rushed them in fear of someone seeing them. "i swear, if anybody hears about this-"
"we're dead." the teens cut him off already having heard the same thing over and over. becca walked over to robin who was slinging ice cream for a couple, a tired expression on her face. the girl handed them their cones and gave them change. "have a nice night..." robin trailed off as they had already walked over to a table.
"here." becca took the scooper out of robin's hands and took her place at the register.
"what are you doing, harrington? it isn't your turn at the register for another ten minutes." robin tried to take her scooper back, but becca, who was much taller than her, held the ice cream scoop above her head. robin continued to try to reach for the scooper, jumping up slightly and stretching her arms out.
"robin, it's fine, you're exhausted anyways." becca tried to reason with her, but robin just crossed her arms. "robin-" she was cut off by the lights switching off, the music that played throughout the ice cream shop also switching off. the customers, robin, and the harrington siblings looked around in confusion.
"what the hell?" becca spoke as her brother walked over to the light switch. the two girls watched as steve flicked the switch up and down repeatedly. becca crossed her arms in annoyance as robin rolled her eyes. "that isn't gonna work, dingus."
steve just stared at her in disbelief and said, "oh, really?" before rapidly flicking the switch. he had seemed to flick the switch on at the right time as both the music and lights came back on. becca rolled her eyes at steve and muttered, "and to think i'm related to this dumbass." quietly, but just loud enough to where robin could hear. the girl laughing at her comment.

the night soon came to an end and the ice cream shop was empty except for the three teenagers. steve told his sister he would be in his car before exiting the small shop, leaving robin and becca alone. becca slung her small bag over her shoulder and said a quick goodbye to robin.becca walked outside of the mall, easily spotting steve's vehicle in the dim parking lot. She adjusted the strap of her bag before making her way to the car. "becca, wait!" she turned around and met robin's eyes, who was rushing out of the mall doors. she held something small in her hand as she nervously rocked back and forth on the heel of her sneakers.
"would you want to, i don't know, maybe go see a moviewithmethissaturday?" robin said in one breath. a smile grew on becca's face as robin spoke. "i-i mean as friends, of course! not as a date! that's...that's just weir-"
"back to the future seems cool." becca interrupted robin who had continued to rant. robin froze completely. "was that a yes?" robin received a nod and a smile had appeared on her own face, mirroring becca's.
robin and becca jumped as a car horn screeched behind them. they both glanced back to see that steve had moved his car closer to the mall and was impatiently looking at the girls. robin handed becca the paper she had been holding which had her address and number on it. "cool. uh, see ya at work, buckley!"
and with that, becca "bex" harrington walked to her brother's car with a huge smile on her face.
and robin buckley watched as steve harrington's car drove off with becca in the passenger seat, a slight blush on her face. as the car drove out of robin's sight, the girl walked to her own car, a slight pep in her step.
no, screw that. robin buckley basically skipped to her car.
