BECCA SIPPED ONCE again on a soft drink as she watched her brother try to flirt with girls as he worked at the register.  it had been a good hour and so far, no luck for the older harrington sibling.

robin watched with becca, a small white board with 'you rule, you suck' written on it was in front of the girls.

"alrighty, one scoop of chocolate.  that's a buck-twenty-five." steve handed the girl her cone as her friend stood beside her.  "anything else?  ooh, purdue." the customer had a light-gray shirt on with 'purdue' on it.

becca drank her soda and sighed as she finished the drink, her red lipstick leaving small rings on the plastic straw.  she tossed the empty cup into a trash can and leaned on the counter.

the girls steve had been talked to walked away, leaning onto each other and giggling.  "this is... my first day here." steve trailed off in defeat.  he sighed as robin slid the white board from its place against the glass window.

"and another one bites the dust." robin took the black marker out of becca's hand to add another tally under 'you suck'.  "you are oh-for-six, popeye."  becca moved to robin's side, their arms touching.

steve rolled his eyes at his coworker, "yeah, yeah, i can count."

"you know that means you suck." becca laughed lightly at her brother's annoyed look.  "yep, i can read too." the older harrington grumbled, crossing his arms.

"since when?" robin feigned disbelief as she smirked at steve.  "it's this stupid hat.  i am telling you, it is totally ruining my best feature," steve spoke as he moved away from the register.

"yeah, company policy is a real drag," robin remarked sarcastically the same time as becca had muttered, "best feature?"  robin laughed making becca smile, steve not noticing as he continued to sulk over the 'ahoy' hat he had on his head.  "you know, it's a crazy idea, but have you considered... telling the truth?" robin suggested to steve.

"oh, you mean, that i couldn't even get into tech and our," he gestured to becca and himself, "douchebag dad's trying to teach me a lesson, i make three bucks an hour, and i have no future?  that truth?" becca glanced at her hands after steve's 'vent'.  however, robin just glanced behind him as a group of girls entered the small shop.  "hey, twelve o'clock."

she gestured to them and steve glanced behind him, a redheaded girl seemed to lead the group as they walked to the cash register.  "oh, shit.  oh, shit." becca just rolled her eyes at her brother before lightly shoving him towards the register.  "just go, dingus!"

he muttered something before tossing his scoops ahoy hat in the break room.  "screw company policy," robin's eyes widening sarcastically at him.  "oh, my god, you're a whole new man."  steve started to walk back towards the register where the group of girls stood, "right?" he turned around to the girls, "ahoy ladies!  didn't see you there.  would you guys like to set sail on this ocean of flavor with me?  i'll be your captain.  i'm steve harrington."

robin moved to mark a tally under 'you suck' once again as becca rolled her eyes.  robin then turned to becca, who by now had shut the glass window and moved back to the table which she propped her legs on.  "so, 'dingus'?" robin smirked at becca, a small blush starting to appear on her face.  "shut up!" she stuck her tongue put at robin who laughed at her before sitting in the seat opposite her.

the next day, steve and becca sat in the break room.  becca was ranting to her brother about really anything she could think of while steve anxiously tapped his foot.  dustin henderson, who both teens had taken a liking too after the past year, was supposed to be coming back from science camp.

becca had now switched the topic to the new movie out called 'back to the future', which she and robin were to go see that saturday night.  as she had just gotten to talk about the movie poster, steve's fast tapping switched to what becca would recall as 'full on fucking turbo mode'.

"will you calm the hell down?" steve still wouldn't stop checking his watch every five seconds and fidgeting like an impatient five year-old in his seat.  "stop tapping your goddam-"

"becca, shut up." steve leaned forward suddenly and pressed his palm against her mouth.  "are they here?" the two harringtons could here from outside of the glass window and with that, steve and becca both shot up out of their chairs.  "is who here?"

robin was interrupted by steve almost running out of the door.  his grin widening upon seeing the middle-schooler. "henderson!" steve laughed as becca joined robin's side, letting the two have their moment.  "henderson!  he's back!" robin looked at the two in confusion as they both cheered.

"i'm back!" dustin laughed happily.

"you got the job!" he gestured to scoops as steve continued to run over to him.  "i got the job!" steve imitated playing a trumpet as both boys met and did their weird lightsaber handshake.  robin just watched them before turning to steve, "how many children are you friends with?" becca laughed as steve sighed.

"oh!  bex!" becca chuckled at the nickname and moving around the counter to hug dustin.  he immediately started rambling about how great science camp was and how the party had 'ditched' him on his first day back.

the teenager just let him talk as they sat down at a small table and robin continued her shift.
