One Day Prior

The ding of your phone catches your attention as you stir your hot chocolate. Namjoon's name pops up in your notifications, and you click after taking a sip from the warm mug.

Found some interesting vocals in my drive a few months back, but I wasn't sure if I should send them to you then

Downloading the files, you wait patiently. Moments pass by slowly while you wait for any new notifications to pop up. Ali was excited to meet more of Jay's family in the upcoming days, and she couldn't stop texting you about it. But currently you were receiving radio silence from her end.

With the download complete, your fingers nervously tap the play button after rushing to your room to grab headphones for better quality.

"Check, check." Your voice. Tapping sounds. "Check-"

Low laughs. "You don't have to keep saying check, you know?" Tae's sexy baritone voice gives you chills even now.

A silent moment. You were glaring at the handsome boy. It turns playful, and you hold back laughs for what you're about to do next. Closing your eyes, you let go.

"So honey now," you sing off-key, laughing and twirling while you belt the words to Ed Sheeran. "Take me into your loving arms! Kiss me under the light of a thousand-" A gasp, then a quick kiss.

"You're beautiful," he breathes out beside the microphone.

"I was singing." You grumble, pouting at the interruption as an attempt to hide the grin on your face. "As I was- Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars! Place your head on my beating heart! I'm thinking out loud...maybe we found-"

"I love you so much." You remember the way he held you in his arms before pushing your back against the foam walls, trailing kisses over your face, neck, shoulders. The way his mouth reached every inch of exposed skin, devouring you like you were the sweetest thing he could find.

"I'm never gonna get to finish my song, huh?" You quietly squeak out, followed by a giggle.

"No, but I'll definitely finish this later." He spoke with almost a growl in his tone. Another kiss.

It was over, but your heart still fluttered.

Is it normal to still be in love with your ex after a year apart? To hear his voice and become weak? To see his face and melt in public areas and the comfort of your own home?

Your phone dings again, and this time Ali is spam texting about her excitement over Jay and his family. You push aside your selfish thoughts before replying to your friend, being happy for her happiness.

You turn on the television and fall onto your side on the couch, a sharp pain shooting through your shoulder before fading. A drama plays, and you deem yourself too lazy to move for the remote. As quickly as the show turned on, it snaps off and a news anchor talks in the place of a couple-to-be.
