"But I love you."

Jacson grunted. "You don't even know what love is."

Tears started walking up in Cassie's eyes. Oh no. I hate it when girls cry. He thought.

"Why are you so cold hearted?" She screamed. "Why won't you let anyone in your life?"

Her words might have stung if it was the first time Jacson had heard them.

He shrugged. "You wouldn't understand."

Jackson turned to leave. And began wondering why he had even met her here in the first place. Her text had said it was urgent, and when he saw that they were meeting in an alley near her house, he thought she was in real trouble. Not in love.

Cassie grabbed his arm. "Tell me."

He turned and all he saw was her beautiful, but still watery, hazel eyes baring into his soul. He quickly looked away before his wall started to crack.

"I don't have time for this."

Her grip got tighter, her nails digging into his arm. "Tell. Me. Now."

He sighed. "Cassie, let go of my arm."

She didn't.

Jacson rubbed his other hand through his hair. "Alright. I'll tell you."

Her grip loosened, but only slightly.

"But remember that you asked, and I always tell the truth."

She nodded, eyes scanning Jacson anxiously.

"I can't fall in love. I was cursed a long time ago that I could never grow old until I fall in love, but the catch is that if I kiss the woman than she dies."

Her eyes narrowed. "Than just fall in love first-"

"No." Jacson's eyes hardened. "I've tried. I can never kiss another woman again."

"What if it wasn't directly lip to lip?"

"She would die."

Cassie's hand fell down to her side. "So you could never kiss the woman you fell in love with?"

He nodded slowly.

"What about a woman you haven't yet fallen in love with."

"It's called the kiss of death Cassie! Anyone I kiss dies!"

Jacson could feel the anger coursing through his veins. Why couldn't they just understand? Why did they have to try and fix it. There were no loopholes.

Jacson turned around. Leaving another girl alone before he could hurt her.

"Wait," Cassie called and Jacson stopped and slowly turned to face her.

"I have a gift for you," she said and stepped closer until she was a few inches from him.

"Kneel down," she said holding a necklace with strange looking beads on a brown string.

He obeyed, and she slid the necklace over his head. "So that you will always remember me," she whispered and placed her forehead on his.

He closed his eyes and was about to stand up and leave when he suddenly felt her lips on his.

He paled as her hands flew around his neck, holding her to him. He was too shocked to run and too scared to pull away.

But soon she stopped and started sinking to the floor. Jacson caught her and held her to him.

"What have you done?"

"I'm a witch," she replied. "In a way I'm cursed too. I have to give away one curse and one gift every year."

He stared at her fading frame confused.

"I gave away a curse many years ago to a cocky young man whom I thought would never find love. I cursed him with the kiss of death."

"You did what?"

"I never thought that I would be the one to fall in love with him," she said with a smile.

"So I gave you a gift."

Jacson looked down at his necklace, and back at her, she was paling fast.

"As long as you wear that, the curse won't return. You can live a normal life."

"But why did you kiss me?"

Her skin was as white as the moon light shinning above them. "I had to take the last kiss of death."

He pulled her close and kissed her again. "I love you Cassie. More than anything."

"I love you too."
