"Mom, this is the sixteenth time we've moved this year. I'm sick of moving all the time" I stated as I put my bag on the floor of my new house. "Oh honey I'm sorry. But I promise this is the last one okay?" Mom said. I scoffed saying "that's what you said the first 7 times we moved". She laughed and continued getting the bags.

I went to explore the new house of mine. It's quite a big house. I wonder where my mom got the money for it. I went to what I guessed was my room and set up my stuff.

I checked my phone to see a text from my friend Kenny.

hey dude. You left your controller at my house
~5:20 pm

"Crap! 2 hours ago?! I can't play any games without that controller" I said to myself. I went downstairs and asked my mom "mom, can we go to a nearby game store later, I left my controller at Kenny's house". She didn't reply as she was looking out in the distance.

"Mom, you okay?" I asked again. She started crying. I sat down beside her. "Hey what's going on?" I asked. "I'm just- I miss your father" she continued crying. I began feeling bad for her. Dad died a couple years ago due to an accident.

'Ring! Ring!' My phone rang. It was from an unknown number. I ignored it in the hopes that it was some psycho I'm avoiding and wasn't some opportunity calling.

"Won't you pick it up?" Mom asked. "Nah, it's some random number. Probably someone tryin x l to sell a vacuum or something" I replied. "Just pick it up and put it to bed. They're gonna call again if you don't pick up" She said as she went inside.

I was reluctant for the first 2 seconds but gave in just to put and end to it. I picked it up. I was about to give the person at least 3 seconds to speak before I end the call but I was in shock. The first word came out of their mouth was "Nicholas". My name is Nicholas. How does he know my name.

"Who is this?" I asked. "I'm just somebody looking for help Nicky" he replied. I lashed out saying "if this is some sick joke, it's not funny!". He laughed sinisterly. Saying "oh no jokes here. Just the truth. If I was you, I'd check on my mom" he said as he continued laughing like a mad man. Just as he says that, I heard my mom screamed.

I ran inside to find that she was looking at something. Or someone. It was a dead body at our backyard. Nobody we knew. But My mom could've sworn that he wasn't there when we got here.

I dialed 911 and told them about the body. They came briefly. Took the body and told us to come with them to take a lie detector test. We agreed cause we didn't do it.

We passed the test. I could've told them about the call I had. Even though I have a recorder for unknown number calls but for some reason the call was deleted. He must've been some hacker.

But after what happened today, I have decided to keep my guard up.
