prompt: david's children don't accept the relationship between the reader and david.david has two children, under the age of five. y/n had slowly become a part in their life, but kaiden, david's son hadn't fully accepted her into the family. he held the anger from loosing his mom and dealt it onto her.
it was now saturday night, kaiden and some players from his soccer team were at the dobrik household. y/n and david were sat in the living room with two of the parents of the children on kaidens soccer team.
the adults stood at the hallway that lead to the front door. one of the children's mother's called out to the kids. they all came rushing down the stairs. the had wild smiles and seemed excited.
"dad, can they stay for the night?" kaiden asked, using the puppy dog eyes gifted by him father. david shook his head, keeping an authoritative gaze. "why, it's not a school night?" kaiden whined, his feet stomping and his fists balling.
"because kaiden," before david could finish his statement kaiden let a loud tantrum, toe curling scream out. tears were streaming down his face. "kaiden, that's enough." davids voice wasn't fully raised, but enough to know he was in trouble.
"kaiden." david repeated in an even more stern voice. david crossed his arms and impatiently tapped his fingers. "it's because of her isn't it ? she ruins everything! i wish you never met her. she's never gonna be mo-"
david had cut kaiden off with a loud shout, tired of interruptkng his son but not getting through. the mother's of the boys had jumped, along with y/n. kaidens teammates cowered in fear.
it was no secret that kaiden had no intention of liking y/n. you could even say he hated her. he wanted his mom back, not some replacement for the time being. kaiden's tears streamed down his face even more, he ran back into his room.
y/n had hurt written all over her face. she knew she would never be his mother, but she sure as hell tried to get him to like her.
"i think we should go." the mother's pulled their sons closer to them and ushered out of the house, y/n had her things in her hands and she turned to leave. "you.stay." his voice was still stern and aggressive, his arms crossed over his chest, heavy breaths leaving his mouth.
"david i really need to go."
"why?" he asked his hands dropping to his side and he tilted his body weight to one side. "we can talk about this tomorrow."
y/n began to walk toward the door once again but david grabbed her wrist. "please don't leave." y/n let a deep sigh out, staring into his puppy dog eyes."david..." she whispered softly and he let go of her wrist. "don't interrupt me, okay?" she looked at him for a sign that he wouldn't, he nodded his head and she continued, "maybe the kids aren't ready for this relationship yet. we should just wait a while until they're ready." as much as david wanted to interrupt, he didn't.
"it's not their choice to decide who i date or not, y/n."
"you can't force them to like someone, they hate me. hopefully it'll be something they get over in the end."
he swallowed the lump in his throat, his heart feeling heavier. a small lonely tear left y/n's eye and she quickly wiped it away. while david's eyes began to well up with tears. "i'm sorry." his voice cracked as he spoke.
"don't be, it's no ones fault."
