“I didn't expect you to be here.” Dani stopped me from spinning, turning to look at the gorgeous creature in front of us. It was him! The guy I went jogging for. The one I accidentally attacked with a water fountain.
I was back to being a teenage girl, stuttering, trying to get a hi out.
“You two know eachother?” Dani asked me, nudging my shoulder with hers.
“She runs and I read.” He smiles and I feel my heart beating so loud I can hear it in my ears.
'Come on, snap out of it.' I think to myself, taking a deep breath in and finally opening my mouth to speak. Of course, Dani talks before I can say anything. “Oh, really?” Dani asks, giving me a smirk. I know that look. It's her match maker look. “Your name is?” She asks him and he holds his hand out to us. “People call me Ocean.”
Dani said exactly what I was thinking, “That's a weird name for a guy.” And his laugh made my knees weak.
“It is but you can blame my parents for that.” He turns his attention to me and I feel another nudge from Dani. She goes to talk but I put a hand over hers and finally speak for myself. “This is my friend, Dani and my name is Alex.” I give him a smile, though I'm confused as to why he almost scoffs when I tell him my name.
“Alex as in Alexandra?” He asks me with that sexy smirk...oh I'm falling hard.
“No...Alex as in...Alex. My aunt told me my parents hated the name Alexandra so just named me Alex.”
Dani steps back from me now. “you two talk and I'm going to go find Tyles.” I give her a pleading look not to go and leave me alone with this man of hotness but she's already waving and walking away from the two of us.
“Your friend seems like quite the handful.” He moves to one of the empty spots, and there's a spot left for me.
I take a seat beside him, turning my body so I'm in a way facing him and my back is towards the rest of the world. “Well. She's just Dani. I know that's not really the easiest explanation but she really is just Dani.” I know i'm babbling now and my mind is begging for my mouth to stop but my mouth isn't getting the message.
“The other one. The boy I saw you with?” He asked me and I had to take a moment to think about it. Why would he ask about Zeb?
“He's one of my best friends. He's somewhere around here.” I look out towards the fire now. It's like it's calling to me. It's beautiful.
“So you're single? “ Ocean asks, following my look to the fire pit.
I realize what he's asking me and I can't help the blush that forms on my face. Was he serious? “Me? Single? I..uh...yeah.” I'm sure I'm red now and all I can really do is focus on the fire.
Concentration was key to many things but for an early bird witch like me I had to remember that focusing on something for a long period of time was bad. The firepit went out, suddenly holding no fire, just black ashes, looking like someone dumped water over it. I almost fell back from the log but Ocean caught me. “How did that..” He looked at me shocked, and I looked back at him with the same expression. “I...don't know.” I was thankful when he helped me sit back on the log, both of us standing to go and examine the pit like the rest of the people who witnessed it. That couldn't have been me. I didn't do it. I couldn't have done something big like that. I've popped a balloon before, I've burned my finger with a lighter before, but my powers never did that.
Teenagers were a new brand of crazy. Everyone went from examining the fire to sudden loud cheering as if it was meant to happen. I shook my head, looking around now for my friends but spotting Dani with another guy...I knew that I was now alone at the very party that I didn't want to be left alone with. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I expected, or maybe hoped for, Ocean to be the one the hand belonged to. Turning around my shy smile dropped immediately when I saw Tyles. “Did you like the trick I did with the fire?” He asked with that charming boy smile he always held.
Tyles was one of the jocks. He had black hair he always spiked with beautiful electric blue eyes. His face was still a babyface, making him a lot longer than he was. When he opened his mouth to talk though, all the cuteness went away. In other words? He was a dick.
'You had nothing to do with it, I did.' I thought to myself but didn't say outloud. All i could really do was force a smile and nod. “It was pretty magical.” I responded to him, my eyes moving behind him to see if I could spot Ocean. I didn't even know why I was looking for him.
“I did it for you. It was pretty woah, wasn't it?” He asked, taking his arm and dropping it around my shoulders. He was a few inches taller than me and I could admit that I fit perfect in his arms.
“It was pretty interesting.” I step away from his arms, rubbing my left arm with my right awkwardly now. “Can I use your bathroom?” I could feel my eyes burning again.
“Sure. As soon as you go in it's to your right.” He used his finger to direct me and I wasn't sure if he knew that where we were right now...he was pointing to the side of the house.
I give him a smile nontheless and job towards the back door. I'm assuming that's where he meant for me to go in. I was finally going inside of the house. I stepped in through the sliding doors and I wasn't disappointed. Everything in the house was black. To the right side of me was the living room with black leather couches, a black coffee table, huge flat screen tv. To the left held the kitchen with beautiful black cupboards and drawers. It looked like something out of a movie. I made sure to take my shoes off, walking through the middle to where a hallway lay. All I have to say is that Tyles wasn't good at giving directions. In the hallway there was another hall that lead to what looked like an Office space. Beside the office was the bathroom. I stepped inside and locked the door behind me, placing both of my hands on the sink to stare in the mirror. My eyes turned to that violet colour that I admit creeped me out a bit.
