I may have not liked Tyles Smith but I could admit he had a lovely home. It was a three story home made out of elm stone for the bottom floor and glass covered the middle floor before it was topped with elm stone once again. I've never been inside but Dani and I always talked about living in a house like that when we're older and married.
I turned to look at the area where the rest of my peers were. Tyles house was placed on land. His home sat on 3acers of land. Most would assume he used it for farm land but he didn't.
I moved up with my two best friends, stopping at the fire pit that everyone was sitting around and talking. I didn't expect to get greeted by anyone but high school kids were fake. “Hey.” I smiled at the ones that chose to wave. Dani moved her arm around my back and leaned her head against mine, “We are in hell.” She whispered which caused me to laugh. I was about to ask her where Shawn had run off to but I saw him with Samantha and instantly understood that he was now going to spend the party with his girlfriend. So much for sticking together.
Samantha and I tolerated each other but Dani tried to rip into her each chance she got. I couldn't really blame her though. Samantha was annoying, the type of girl that tried to control Zeb and tried to make him choose on many occasions us or her. “Hell is nicer than this, Dani.” I smile at her, trying to keep her distracted from focusing on Zeb. I didn't want them to have any hard feelings towards each other.
“Oh is it? You ever been?” she asked me, giving me an innocent smile for her smartass remark.
“I have! It had beautiful scenery.”and suddenly our voices changed, holding English accents. It was something we did when we were mocking something, playing.
“Ah. Lovely scenery is the key, isn't it?” Dani asked, sitting beside me and crossing one leg over the other, hands folded in her lap. “May you describe it to me?”
“Of course!” I say back to her, following her example with the leg crossing and the hand folding. “You enter through this elevator, and when it opens you're forced to go only one way because there is only one single path, narrow mind you. Around the path was hot steaming lava--”
“Lava? That sounds lovely!”
“Oh lovely indeed. But that isn't even the best part! In the lava floated everything you would be terrified with. Dakrness, Clown heads, Spiders, and so on. You just never wished to fall into that lava.” I explain to her, my eyes hazy. I wasn't the best story teller but Dani was listening. That made me feel important. Made me feel like she actually cared what I was saying to her.
“Go on. Do continue, it sounds heavenly.” She turned, seeming even more focused. I felt kind of bad for distracting her. She wanted to come to this party.
“Well. I walked down the path which seemed to get narrower and narrower. It led me to the top of a hill. By the time I got up there I was beyond exhausted, Dani.” I felt like this was no longer a story. I know it wasn't a real scenery that I was picturing. At least I can fully say that I've never been there in person. But in my dreams...maybe I remembered it from a dream.
“When I looked down I could see this huge black looking castle. A castle that a child would dream up.”
“Oh? Did it look like Hogwarts then?”
I couldn't help but laugh at Dani. Of course she would say something like that. “Yes. Indeed it did. But a smaller version. Maybe two stories tall.” I try to pain a picture in her head but I know that asking me to describe something I saw was never a good idea.
“I walked towards the castle and stepped inside. But nothing was there. Not even one furniture piece. There was a note though. It said 'Welcome to Hell, Princess of Darkness.' and well, that's all I can describe now.”
Dani's smile faltered. The play conversation was clearly done. “I know you aren't the best with description but it kind of sounded like you've visited a place like that.”
I opened my mouth to speak but when I looked around everything was frozen. Charles with his cup that clearly someone knocked from his hands was frozen in place, the juice half in and half out of the cup and his face looked priceless. Dani's look of concern was stuck on her face with a hand half reached out towards me, ready to touch me.
A witch had many secrets. Many powers. But this one...this was one of my favorite powers. I could never make it happen instantly. I don't understand how my powers work just yet but when it happened I used it to take pictures. I lifted my camera from it's bag that I had over my shoulder, lifting it up and focusing on Charles with his drink that was about to fall. I took my phone out when I was done and made sure to write down Charles, 06/07/2014 Party at Tyles. I turned my camera and snapped a photo of Dani. The look she held was just...perfect. It showed so much emotion. Dani, 06/07/2014 Party and Tyles. I snapped more, some of all of the people, or as much as I could fit into my lense, some of the house, the pool, the forest behind Tyle's house. I slowly put the camera away, taking my seat back next to Dani. I never knew how long these lasted. One time at school during an exam it lasted two hours which gave me enough time to finish my exam and help Zeb with his. I think that's the only reason he passed that class considering he was there maybe three times in total. I looked down and it was as soon as I did that when the party came back and I felt Dani's hand on my arm.
“I think it was a dream.” I tried to ease her mind, standing up when Katy Perry's ROAR came on. I started to dance with her, laughing when she joined me in my craziness.
