Fitz awoke in a room that was completely white. He tried to sit up, but he realized that he was tied to a chair. There was a gag over his mouth, so he couldn't call for help. He remembered that he had brought a knife, so he twisted until he could reach it. He set to work getting out of his bonds, and threw his gag to the floor. Then, he opened his mind and searched for Sophie. His bad luck must have run out for today because she was in the room right next to him.
He decided not to go into the hallway in case there was someone keeping guard, so he took out his knife again, and tested the wall to see if it would cut through. Sure enough, the wall was made of a thin sheet of who knows what, and the knife went right out the other side. Once he had made a big enough opening, he crawled through and found Sophie lying unconscious on a bed. He lifted her up, and realized that he still had his home crystal.
That's odd, Fitz thought as he pulled it out. It's almost like they wanted me to escape. He decided not to question it as he held up his crystal. He had the one thing that he wanted. As he leapt away, he felt like he was forgetting something, but he couldn't figure out what it was until it was too late.
He was forgetting Keefe.
