Chapter One - Forgotten

Broken. Betrayed. Hurt. Devastated. That's how I felt. Dead, trapped inside a body full of life. But most importantly, I felt forgotten. Forgotten by someone who promised to never forget about me. Forgotten by my best friend. I thought he would keep his promise, after all, best friends never turn their backs on each other, that's the way it works. He promised he would never forget me, no matter how famous and popular he would get. But he did. I was the one that encouraged him to audition for the show. I was the one who was always there for him no matter what.  I was the one who believed in him.  I was the one that was always there for him right from the beginning. I voted for him every week,  just like our entire neighbourhood. We really wanted  him to get far in the competition, that's what he deserved.  I even made "Harry's got The X Factor!" and "Vote for Harry!" posters and banners to put up on the streets. I closed my eyes and tried to forget about his emerald green eyes, that cheeky smile he always had plastered to his face and the big mop of curls that hung from his head.

-A few months  prior-

"Em?"

"Harry, how many times do I have to tell you to knock before bursting into my-"

"I just sent in my audition forms.."

I turned around, knocking back my office chair as I threw myself into my best friends arms, hugging him tightly.

"Harry -YOU'RE KIDDING RIGHT? I can't believe it! I'm so proud of you!" I shrieked, tightening my grip around his body. I felt him chuckle as I pulled away, my lips curling into a smile.

"You finally decided to follow my advice. It was about time you -" his hand covered my mouth, cutting me off again.

"Emmy Boo, I always follow your advice. Always. Stop complaining." I poked his ribs, frowning slightly.

"I will stop complaining once you stop calling me Emmy Boo."

"I will never stop calling you Emmy Boo! Never!” he stated, exciting my room and laughing.

"I hate you!" I called after him, shaking my head as I and sat back down on my desk, getting back to work.

-Still a few months prior-

“Are  you excited? I mean, you’re going to be famous”

“I’m not going to be famous! I’m sure everyone is going to be much better than me”

“Harry, stop saying that. You’re a lot better than you think you are, you know?”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“But you’re not going to forget about your best friend once you become rich and famous, right?”

“Of course not!” You’ll always be my little Em Em”

-Still a few months prior-

"You can do this. You sang at my cousins wedding, and at that band competition at school with the rest of White Eskimo. Just imagine you're standing with the rest of your band up on that stage. I know you can do it!"

"But this is different. I have to sing for millions of people this time and I'm going to be on TV later," he sighed, blinking tiredly.

"I know, I just want you to feel better," I shrugged, looking away.

"I think I know what song I'm going to use for my audition."

"Which song is it?"

"Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder. Gemma likes that one. "

-Still a few months prior-

"Don't forget to call me when you arrive! Good luck. You're going to be great, Haz. You have a beautiful voice," I wrapped my arms around his body, gripping him tighter than usual. He put his arms around me, pulling me closer to him. He pulled apart after a minute, taking both of my hands.

"I won't Em, I promise. Now you promise you're going to call me every single night. And we need to Skype at least once a week, alright?"

"I promise. I love you, Haz." I whispered, letting go of his hands. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper and handed it to me. I took it and placed it in my own pocket.

“I love you too, Em,” Harry turned around, following after his mother who was calling him to the boarding gate.

"And Harry?"

"Yeah?"

"Don't forget me."

He flashed me his signature cheeky smile and walked away without another word.
