A few days later, I stood next to Alicia as Queen Mikoto had asked for her presence. The older woman stood by the throne's side.

"You look as if you're feeling better after a few days to yourself, Alicia." Mikoto smiled

"I am, yes. I still have many questions, but at least now I have a few answers. Thank you for giving me the space I needed to think." Alicia smiled back

"Of course. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. If you wouldn't mind, I have a small favour to ask. Kuro may I ask you to step out?"

I nodded my head and walked out of the throne room. I came across Yukimura who offered a smile to me before stepping inside.

"Excuse me, Lady Mikoto. The ceremony is about to begin." He announced

I remained behind him.

"Thank you, Yukimura." Mikoto thanked before turning the amnesiac princess

"Alicia, you probably don't remember him, but this is Yukimura. He's one of our strategists and brightest leaders. We would be lost without him!"

Yukimura slightly blushed while giving a respectful bow, making me chuckle.

"You are too kind, milady. Though in truth, I still have much to learn. That said, I am here to help in any way I can, Lady Alicia." He said as he stood straight again

I turned towards the royal siblings as they walked in the throne room and closer to us.

"I'd like to make a public announcement about your presence here, Alicia. There have been rumours circulating about spies from Nohr infiltrating the castle. I would like to quash those rumours once and for all." The queen explained

She turned to Yukimura.

"Yukimura, is everything ready?"

"Yes, milady. People are beginning to gather at the plaza." He answered

"Excellent. Thank you."

She turned back to the royal siblings.

"Alicia, I've arranged for Takumi, Hinoka and Sakura to give you a tour. I thought you might want to know the area a little bit before this event. I need to speak with Yukimura first, but I'll meet you at the plaza soon."

"We'd be happy to show her around. Thank you, mother." Hinoka spoke up

"Azura, do you mind going with them as well?" Mikoto asked

"Not at all. It would be my pleasure."

"Thank you, Azura." Alicia smiled

"Of course, Alicia." Azura smiled back

Takumi scoffed while Sakura smiled through a small blush.

"I can't wait to show you around! I think you'll l-love it here." The youngest princess said

"Thank you, Sakura. A guided tour sounds like a great idea." Alicia smiled

I remained by Ryoma's side as the younger siblings walked out of the throne room.

"I hope Alicia is truly OK with all of this..." Mikoto sighed

"Yes, I can't imagine the position she's in. It's a lot to process. That said, I think that her return is a message from the gods." Yukimura nodded

"A good message, I hope." Ryoma sighed

I looked at the slightly tall man next to me.

"Why do you say that?" The strategist asked

"I don't know. After that invasion up north, I just feel uneasy. We should remain on high alert, if you ask me." He explained

I nodded in understanding and turned my head back to the door.

"Kuro? You are quieter than usual. Is there something on your mind?" Mikoto asked

I didn't answer right away.

"Something unsettling claws at my mind, I have a bad feeling." I answered

Later

I stood by the sibling's side as Mikoto announced Alicia's return in Hoshido. I let a smile pull at my lips for a small moment, glad to see everyone so happy about it. However, a dark energy started choking the air around me. I groaned slightly and let my head fall as my ears rang. I felt someone hold me up.

"K-Kuro? What's happening?" I heard Sakura ask worriedly

I looked up as the sword by Alicia's side shot to a hooded figure's hand, then was slammed into the ground, a destructive wave of dark energy escaping all around the mysterious person. The sword shattered to pieces and shot towards Alicia. I was quick to push off the person to take a sudden leap in an attempt to protect the targetted princess. But queen Mikoto was slightly faster than me. She took everything full blow while my left arm took a few debris in it while roughly slamming me in the dragon statue. My head hit the stone hard and everything went black for me.

...

"Are we really to believe you had no idea this would happen?"

Was the first thing I heard when I started coming back to reality. I felt pain in my left shoulder as I tried to move, making me hiss silently. My vision cleared up a bit, showing to me destruction all around us and in front of me stood the siblings and Yukimura. Takumi was the one to yell.

"Takumi, what are you saying? Knock it off! You just saw Alicia help us defeat those Nohrian soldiers!" Hinoka yelled back

"Takumi, please. You must listen. Alicia is your sister. If you don'ttrust me, that'sone thing. But Alicia is your own blood." Azura tried to say

"Mother is dead. Thanks to her." The prince continued

"She's not my sister."

"I'm so sorry, everyone. I've brought nothing but pain to all of you. It would be better if I'd never come here-maybe I should leave." Alicia spoke up

Poor girl, she looked miserable, and probably felt so too. I managed to stand up straight, remembering something Mikoto had talked about with me and Yukimura.

"It's not what Queen Mikoto would have wanted." I spoke up, startling them

"What would you know about it, Kuro?" Takumi growled

I felt a small pain in my heart at the aggressive tone.

"Kuro is right. I hate to deliver this news but...Queen Mikoto foresaw her own death. This isn't your fault, Alicia. King Garon set these events in motion. And the queen speculated that there may be an even darker force at work. She didn't know when or how death would strike, only that it was certain. And there's is only one other thing. Please, take a look at that statue." Yukimura explained

We all looked up at the destroyed statue to see a sword sticking out of the stone.

"Is that...a sword?" Alicia questioned

"It can't be..." Ryoma gasped

"It is. The divine sword Yato. Much like your weapon, Ryoma. The divine Raijinto...And your Fujin Yumi, Takumi..." Yukimura started

"Yato mag be wielded by only a singular warrior. One who is chosen by the blade itself. It is said that the blade was forged to be the key to peace in our world." I continued

"The key to peace..." Alicia mumbled thoughtfully

As if on cue, the blade floated up before heading Alicia's way. The princess lifted her hand on reflex and caught the sword as it flew to her.
