"An attack?!"
"Yes my lord, an unprovoked attack has been reported from one of our posts at the Bottomless canyon."
"Send reinforcements! Quickly!"
I spoke up from my post next to Ryoma.
"May I ask to be sent as well? There is something I need to see." I asked
He gave me a small smile and nodded.
"Yes, but please do not remain on the front line, and take Rinkah and Kaze with you." He accepted
I bowed and walked towards where I knew I'd find those I'm searching for.
Timeskip
I ran alongside Kaze and Rinkah, a few minutes behind Ryoma and his retainers. We crossed path, exchanging statuses on the battlefield before we continued our separate ways. We arrived at the canyon when there was a flash of light that disappeared almost instantly. I led my friends slightly closer and we hid in bushes not too far. The light lit up again, the princess appearing from it. In a swift movement, Rinkah jumped behind her and knocked her out. I rolled my eyes at her ways and exited the bush with Kaze.
"I'll go and notify lord Ryoma of her capture." The latter decided before running off
I nodded and picked the princess up bridal style, allowing a bit of my sleeves to appear.
"With the hit she took, we have a few hours. Let's not waste them." I spoke up
Rinkah smirked and agreed, making us both run towards where a meeting would be.
Later
I sat in front of the fire with Rinkah as we both kept an eye on the princess. Alicia woke up in a jolt, sitting up quickly.
"Ah, you're awake. Sorry about that bump on your head." Rinkah greeted
Alicia looked at us.
"It's you two! From the Flame Tribe and the mysterious woman, right? Where are we?"
Rinkah slightly laughed at my description while I ignored her and answered to the princess.
"This is Rinkah, and I am Kuro. We are in a Flame Tribe village within Hoshido's territory." I explained
"We're going to hand you over to the Hoshidan authorities." Rinkah continued
I shed a small shed at how serious she made it sound.
"I see. I suppose they'll want to hear an explanation for the unprovoked attack. And then they'll probably execute me." Alicia muttered
"Heh, I don't think so." Rinkah chuckled
A knock on the door made us look up.
"Gods...they're here already, aren't they?"
"Yes. It's time to go." My friend announced, standing up
I lent a hand to the princess, helping her up. We guided her outside, seeing Kaze standing there.
"We meet again. Kaze, right?" Alicia spoke up
Kaze kneeled before her.
"Yes. I'm glad we found you, Princess Alicia." He answered
"You are? Wait am I missing something?"
I chuckled and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Please, come with us. All will be explained." I reassured
"Very well." Alicia accepted
It was an hour or so later that we reached Castle Shirasagi, being greeted by Ryoma in the throne room. Kaze kneeled down in front of him.
"Welcome back, you three. Good work."
I bowed to him.
"Thank you, Lord Ryoma." I thanked at the same time as Kaze
He glanced at me with a small smile.
"Did...did you just say Lord Ryoma?" Alicia questioned
"Yes, this it the high prince of Hoshido. Lord Ryoma."
"I understand."
Ryoma hummed thoughtfully.
"What are you waiting for? If you're going to execute me, please get on with it." Alicia pleaded.
We all turned towards the noise of approaching footsteps. Queen Mikoto walked towards us.
"I cannot believe it is really you..."
"I'm sorry do we know each other?" Alicia asked
The poor girl, so lost and confused.
"Oh, I've missed you so much! Come here, Alicia, my sweet child!" The Queen cried
She brought the confused princess in a hug.
"Your sweet child?! What are you talking about? That's not possible..." Alicia stammered
Queen Mikoto let go and backed up to stand between me and Ryoma.
"Oh, my poor Alicia. It's a sad story. When you were young, you were abducted by forces from Nohr. I am your mother, Mikoto. All this time, I didn't know if I'd ever see you again!"
"But King Garon is my father! None of what you're saying makes sense."
"It must be quite a shock, but I assure you that she speaks the truth. I am your older brother, Ryoma."
"No, no, no... Xander is my older brother! Leo, Elise, and Camilla are my siblings..." Alicia continued on
"Are those the Nohrian royals? They're not your real family. I still remember the day you were taken. In those days, there was tension between Hoshido and Nohr, but no full-blown war. Not until Garon lured King Sumeragi-our father-to Cheve under false pretences. He said it was for a peace conference. Ha! His real plan was to murder our father in cold blood. And to make matters even worse...he kidnapped you. He-"
"Lord Ryoma." I cut in
He looked at me apologetically.
"No. That's just not possible..." Alicia mumbled
I looked at her with sympathy.
"You really don't remember any of this? Not even a single memory?" Ryoma asked
"No. Honestly, I have only the vaguest memories from my early childhood..."
She spaced out for a few minutes, seemingly remembering somethings. Then a guard came in, announcing an attack from the north. Ryoma glanced at me.
"Kuro, I would like you to remain here for the time being."
I nodded my hooded head in response and stood by the Queen's side as he walked away with the others.
"She may not remember yet, but her memory seal is weakening. She'll end up remembering." I spoke up
Mikoto looked at me with a smile.
"I can always count on you to ease my mind, would you join me for tea?"
"With pleasure majesty." I accepted
