"Work it, work it, work it! Come on, stretch those legs Erin! Jump higher, you're making me look bad!" I fall out midway through a triple turn and square my shoulders towards Isabel
"There's nobody else in here." I say flatly, motioning the empty dance studio on a Friday night. She pulls the raspberry lollypop from her frosted pink lips and cocks her head to the side.
"I know. I just figured the sooner I exhaust you, the sooner we can leave and actually DO something!" She pops the candy back in her mouth and turns back on the music. Rolling my eyes, I march out of the room, grabbing my bag on the way. "Wait, does this mean you're done?" I nod stiffly, making her squeal in delight. "Yay! Let's go to a party!" She strolls past me, fluffing her dark, curled hair, now humming to herself.
"You can go, I think I'm just gonna head home." She turns to argue back, but stutters, staring at something behind me. I raise an eyebrow and turn on my heels to face her line of vision. Under the dim light of the street lamp, I see a man walking towards us. "Dom?" I questioned as his friendly face came into view.
"Erin! what's up, girl?" We exchanged quick hugs.
"Oh, nothing really. Just got done practicing in the dance studio right here." I pointed at the building behind us.
"So, your a ballerina?" I frowned at his amused look as he chuckled, shoulders lightly shaking as he tried to hide it. "Sorry, sorry.... So who's this fine thing?" Isabel's hold on my arm tightened, making me jolt from her nails pressing into my skin.
"This, is Isabel," I gasped out. "Isabel, this is Dom." Dom held out his hand and smiled. Isabel just crossed her arms with a 'humph,' making his smile faulter and hand lower to his side.
"Well, anyway, I'm looking for Evan... Have you seen him?" I shook my head. "Oh he was up posed to meet me in the ally for a dance session, but he never showed." My eyebrows furrowed with worry. I totally forgot I called him earlier and left a message, but he never called me back...
I found myself automatically scanning the area for him, but what help would just standing here be?
"Don't worry, he's probably home snoring about probably." He gave me a reassuring smile and a soft pat on the shoulder.
I nodded, "Call me if you find him."
"Same goes for you." Dom turned and started walking off, fading away after he passes the street lamp.
"Come on, Erin, I'm sure Evan's fine." Isabel rubs my back and steers me towards the direction of her car.
*. *. *.
Okay, so it's been a few days since the night I saw Dom and Evan still hasn't shown up. Is it time to freak out yet?! I really need to find him, to hug him and kiss him, and demand to know where he's been!
I don't understand why he's making me act all crazed like this... The clingy girlfriend has come out of her she and she's not going back in.
Not knowing what else to do, I grab my mon's car keys and slam the door behind me.
(Evan's POV)
I groaned, yanking the comforter over my head in attempt to block out the light streaming through the windows. I've been basically living in my room for the past few days and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon.
Knowing that if I did, I would have to face all the people i've been ignoring, including a probably fuming Erin. Sure, I do miss her and even feel a little bad, but she's gotta face the real me and realize that this is what I do when life gets hard.
I hide.
Not that she actually knows what I'm hiding from...but it's a start.
Straining my ears, I listen to the sound of furious stomping up the stairs. I fix my position to make it look like I'm still asleep, because it's probably my mom coming to complain about the laundry I didn't do.
My door slams open and I wait for the verbal abuse. "Evan Rider! You come out from under those covers right now!" I froze as Erin ripped the blanket off me. Her murderous gaze was enough to make me cower back under the blankets as she stood their with her hands on her hips.
Shit. Shit, shit, shit!!!
I decided the best way to handle this was to "play dumb." I sat up on my elbows, scratching my bare chest, and squinted my eyes against the light. "Erin?" I yawned, "What are you doing here?"
"W-What? You've been ignoring everyone for days and you have the nerve to ask ME what I'M doing HERE?" she said, a little caught off guard.
"I'm sorry." Her cute little nose wrinkled in annoyance, and I couldn't help but chuckle a little.
She quickly squared her shoulders when she noticed my amusement. "Y-You better be mister! Now get off your lazy ass and-" I say up fully, placing my feet on the floor, but stopped and quirks and eyebrow, waiting for her to finish. She blinked, "a-and get ready to reherse!" she said quickly and grudgingly turned away from me to cross her arms with a 'humph.'
Wow.
"So, you came all the way over here just to tell me to get ready for rehersal?" I laughed, shaking my head at her ignorance. "I doubt that." This time I stood right behind her, twirling her long brown hair teasingly. "What's the real reason, Erin?" I whispered in her ear, snaking my arms around her waist. Her breath hitched, and I smirked to myself.
I went to kiss her neck, make her knees weak so she would melt in my arms and I could take her right then and there.
But something stopped me.
Instead, as much as it pained me to do so, I just rest my chin on her shoulder and hugged her tighter.
Erin's not like the other girls I've been with. Some guys I know might consider this weak, but i'm not gonna push her just to get what I want. I'm not gonna take a chance on making one shitty mistake and then lose her for good. I'll try not to fuck this one up.
