Atleast... that's what everybody thought on the night of the accident. Mondo grabbed Chihiro from the front row and even though Taka felt somewhat betrayed, if his and Mondo's roles were reversed he would probably do the same. But that was just one of the things you can't say. For example: if you were to say "I would put your life on the line for someone cuter." The person you were talking to would probably look down on you for the rest of your romance/friendship.
When Taka was still alive they always treated Chihiro like an adopted child after all, he had the innocence of one.
In class Chihiro asked almost all the questions in sex ed, Mondo giggled with almost each one. He had to get kicked out of class.
Every now and then Taka still giggled about the times where they hung out, it was Chihiro that brought them all together. And that was the beauty of having such a cool friend group. Honestly, Chihiro was probably the only reason Mondo was hanging on. Taka and Mondo had something nobody else could replicate but, Chihiro was there to catch Mondo if he fell.
