"What do you mean she got jumped?" An angered voice demanded.

"I mean she got jumped. What else could I mean?" A calmer voice responded.

The angered one sighed in exasperation. "Why didn't you take her to the hospital?"

"She practically screamed bloody murder when I suggested that. Something about not going back to 'him'." The calm voice returned.

"I just--I don't know what to do. I don't know why she is bullied or why she provokes them to hurt her more."

"It's simple. She's a fighter. People always hate the fighters and try to knock them down. Fighters climb higher every time they are knocked down. It's a never-ending circle."

"Yea, that's true. And she's one stubborn fighter." They both chuckled.
"I just wish I could've gotten to her sooner. Saved her from all that pain. She doesn't deserve it." The calm one said, a hint of pain in his voice.

"That's another one of our problems."

"What's that?"

"She believes she does deserve it. She'd never admit it consciously, but I see it when she comes home after being bullied. She would shrug it off, say it didn't matter if they did it or not. The guilt was in her eyes."

"Guilt? What guilt?"

The once angry one sighed. "The guilt of what she did to our father. I won't tell you, but in time, she will. When she's ready." There was a slight grunt. "Just don't break her heart, okay cupcake?"

"Sure thing, Cameron."

"Jake, please, call me Cam."

I snapped out of my dream, gasping for air. My lungs felt as if they were closing in and suffocating me. I coughed, trying to release the growing tension. I heard loud pounding before two large boys burst through my door and came to the side of the bed.

"Cammy--" I coughed and groaned, wincing from the pain coming from my lower ribs.

"Charlie you need to calm down." I heard a strained voice say. I looked from Cammy to Jake, who was looking at me with worry in his eyes.

Why is Jake here?

"Jake," cough, "what are you doing--" cough, "--here?" I asked him.

Surprise flashed across both of their faces as they stared at me astonished.

"What do you mean?" Cammy asked.

Am I missing something?

"Why is Jake here? Why aren't I at school and--" I winced and yelped from the pain all over my body, "--ah! Why the hell does my body feel like it was hit with a bus?" I groan.

"You mean you don't remember?" Jake asked in a pained voice.

"Remember what?" I asked, the coughs dying down.

They exchanged glances.

What is going on?

"What do you remember?" Cameron asked me.

"Well..." I pondered the thought. "I suppose when I was walking into the classroom after talking to you in the hallway."

"What did he say in the hallway?"

"He told me I would be interested in him one day."

Jake cleared his throat uncomfortably as Cameron gave him a knowing look of 'you did what to my baby?'
