The girl turned around and started wrestling Eric for the bat. Even though her physique showed little to no muscle, she held a lot of wiry strength.
"Babe, let go!" She screamed, thrashing around to get Eric to lose his grip. He pulled the bat as hard as he could, but no matter how hard he tried, his grip on the smooth surface slipped.
The girl, stumbled back for a second before tripping over Tessa's body. She quickly scrambled onto Tessa and straddled her. She fumbled with the bat, trying to raise it to hit Tessa again.
Eric quickly grabbed the girl by the waist and hauled her off of Tessa. She tried to kick at Eric, and she seemed very hesitant to try and hurt Eric herself.
"Eric, honey, I said back off!" Eric recognized the girl's green eyes and her stick like figure. She was the one that jumped on him on that night in Seattle.
How was he so stupid? Out of the millions of things he could have done that night, he told her everything a wild fangirl would ever have wanted to hear. He even danced with her. He had reacted solely to save his own neck, and he added fuel to her flame of obsession. He made eye contact with her. He danced with her. He even spoke with her. That was one of the most deadliest mistakes he has ever made.
"You need to calm down," he'd told her. "Calm down, sweetheart."
"I love you!"
"I love you too."
"You do? Really?"
"You're special. I can tell. You have the prettiest green eyes I've ever seen."
"Oh my God! Do you really think so?"
"Beautiful. But I need you to go now. I have a concert to finish for all these other people. I'll see you later, OK?" He'd said as he let the security guards whisk her away. She kept on screaming at them to let her go, saying that she knew him and that they were in a relationship.
Why did he say that? Was he asking for this to happen? He told a fangirl that he loved her. He just made the biggest mistake in the book. He fueled her love for him, and now it's come back to bite him. She probably hacked his phone and found out about EricThornSucks. She must have seen the messages between Eric and Tessa. Seeing those messages would have drove her to the brink of insanity, seeing the words that Eric told her also be directed at another girl.
Why didn't he do anything else? He could have stayed silent, he could have easily just grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her to the approaching security guards. He could have even told her to die and shove her off of the stage. No, instead he told her that he loved her.
Now, she was here, and it seemed that she was ready to kill Tessa.
Eric had to alert security. Maybe he could scream for them, maybe he could just get the bat away from the girl and apprehend her himself until security could get here. The problem was security was outside and Maury was probably with them.
Eric pulled the girl to the ground. He rolled on top of her and did his best to hold down all of her limbs. Since he was much heavier than her, it worked. While Eric was busy keeping her flailing limbs in check, she jerked her head up and caught him in the nose.
Eric rolled off of her in time for her to miss his face the second time she jerked her head up. She moved to grab the bat, which had rolled over to Tessa. Tessa was gripping her shoulder and seemed a bit dazed.
Eric managed to grab the fangirl as she snaked her hand around the base of the baseball bat.
"If you love me, you'll let me kill her!" She growled as she hit his arm with the bat. Eric hissed and let go of her. The spot immediately turned red and a purple overtone took over a majority of the spot.
He needed to get the bat away from her somehow. Sadly, she seemed very focused on hurting Tessa. Eric needed to catch her off guard somehow, and sadly, the only way to do it was to act like he had in Seattle. If he could distract her long enough to get security to notice, she would be carried away just like last time. However, this time she'll be going to jail and Eric will never have to see her face again.
Eric grabbed both of her arms and forced them to her sides. He adjusted himself so that they would be staring directly at each other.
"Sweetheart, if you kill her, we can't be together." Her eyes widened and she looked at him like she was about to cry.
"But why not?" The anger in her eyes was completely gone.
"Because then you'll be in prison. We can't be together if you're locked up." He said in the most earnest way he could muster. He watched as her eyes dilated like in Seattle. Now that he could look properly, he swore that he could see into the depths of her soul.
There was nothing pretty about her eyes anymore. They were filled with obsession and violence. She was evil, and he could not let her lay a hand on Tessa.
"Honey," She said softly. "If I don't kill her, she'll try to take you from me. I don't want her to take you from me." She whispered, her eyes watering up. She sounded so broken. It almost shocked Eric about how deep her delusion ran. She had already convinced herself that they were together.
Eric let go of her hands and cupped her face. "I know. I don't want that either. I won't let her get near us, okay? We'll be fine," He did he best not to flinch when she leaned forward and rested her forehead on his. He could smell the strong scent of cinnamon apple on her. "But we can't kill her, okay?" He looked at her with the most loving face he could muster.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before looking back at him. "Okay, I won't kill her, but if she gets to you again, she'll die." She dropped the bat, and it softly clanged against the floor.
Eric felt a shiver rack his body at her words. "She won't." He told her.
Slowly, the two rose from the ground. Eric avoided Tessa's eyes. He needed to focus right now. He could apologize later.
"Come on, let's go." He said, slightly tugging the girl with him. "We can go out to eat, how does that sound?" She immediately brightened up and hugged him.
"Sure! Can we go to Denny's?" She chirped, following Eric out of the pub. She grabbed his arm tightly.
Eric chuckled. "Yes." He opened the door and allowed her to take the first steps outside.
Once they got out, Eric immediately saw two security guards chatting away with Maury to the left of him. Quickly, he grabbed the girl's arms and pulled them behind her.
"Eric, let go of me!" She pouted, but Eric wasn't paying attention to her.
"Security!" He barked at them. Their conversation ceased and they looked over to him. "Please take her to the police."
The guards ran over and took her from Eric. She struggled against their hold. "Let go of me!" She shouted at them before turning to Eric. "Eric, honey, tell them to let go of me!" She begged him.
Eric dropped his facade at looked at her with the rage he had kept at bay. She had ruined this night for Eric.
Maury came up to Eric. He looked incredibly concerned. "What happened? What did she do?"
Eric looked him in the eye. "You let her in?" He said in disbelief. He had thought she snuck in, but apparently not.
"Yes. She was on the guest list." Maury explained. "What's up with you?"
Eric ignored Maury's question. "What do you mean she was on the guest list?"
"I mean that she's on the guest list unless Taylor doesn't exist." Maury sassed him.
Eric winced, not ready to explain what had happened. "Taylor doesn't exist." Maury looked confused and lost at once. Eric remembered that Tessa and her therapist were still inside, both injured. "Can you call an ambulance? Tessa and Dr. Regan are injured." He said with urgency.
"What?" Maury cluelessly said.
"They're injured! That girl attacked them!" Eric explained, running back inside to find Tessa.
Eric found her back against the wall. She was about to reach for the bat. Dr. Regan appeared to be awake, but she was staring at the roof in a daze.
"Tessa, don't touch it. You need to keep your fingerprints off of it." Eric told her calmly. She looked pained and her shoulder was obviously swollen. "Don't worry. An ambulance will be coming. That girl's with the police." He tried to reassure her.
Tessa looked him dead in the eye. She knew something that he didn't. "MET." She said. "That was MET."
