"The police called my dad," Ella whispered. Daisy glanced up at her friend. It had been a few weeks since they had spent any time together outside of a party. That's all they seemed to be doing now-a-days. They were driving around dark country back roads looking for the next party and Daisy hated it.

"Why? What happened?" Daisy wasn't really interested in knowing. She had been focused on her own life for the past week. Her house had beenfilled with constantfighting, her brother'sand mother's shouts kept ringing in her ears.

"The party Philip and I went to last night got busted. They were searching people as they left the house. Philip had blow on him. He was arrested and they called my dad because I was with him." Daisy's head whipped up from the worksheet she had been filling out. She grimaced at the mention of Ella's new boyfriend. They had met at thatparty back in October, and from then on, he seemed to be at every party they went to.

"Ella, it's a Thursday. You went to a party on a Wednesday night? Why?"

"That's the part you are latching on to? Not the part where my boyfriend is in jail and my dad grounded me for the rest of my life?" Ella said incredulously. Daisy shrugged. Philip was bad news. He was a fun guy but he had no self control, he didn't care about Ella's future. He wasalways giving her different drugs to tryandsupporting her growing fascination with recreational drug use.

"I don't know what to tell you. Maybe it's a good thing Ella. I feel like you are going out all the time with Philip. We've all been doing a lot of blow recently. It might be time to take a break. I'm thinking of stopping too." Daisy said. It wasn't a lie. Lately Daisy wasn't as interested in the drug, not after she hadstarted getting nose bleeding all the time. The last time had comeout of nowhere. She and her dadwere two minutes from home and hernose just started gushing. Her dad had made a comment in passing, a joke about Daisy putting too much stuff up there. Her heart had dropped atthe fact that her dad made a joke about Daisy snorting things. It made her stop and reevaluate her decisions. It made her stomach twist in disgust about going to school higandabout snorting lines in the back of Olivia's jeep while going out to lunch or parties.

"Don't be stupid, Daisy. Why would I stop? I haven't been doing that much." Ella glared at Daisy, her arms crossing over her chest defensively. Daisy rolled her eyes.

"I feel like every time we go out you and Olivia are asking if I wanna throw down for some yayo. It's fun to do every once in a while, but we've done it every weekend for the past month. I'm getting nose bleeds El," Daisy hissed under her breath as their teacher circled aroundtheir table, looking to see how much work they'ddone.

"So, you can stop. I don't need to."

"I won't let you go down this road, Ella."

Ella smiled as she walked through Daisy's front door. "Hey guys," she waved, plopping down on the couch next to Monica.

"Okay Ella, which movie do you want to watch? John Tucker Must Die or the Proposal?" Olivia asked, as she leaned forward from her spot on the couch to hold up the movies. The four of them were having a much needed girls night in. They hand iced tea, popcorn, Twizzlers and matching PJ's. Olivia and Monica were leaving at the end of the movie but they still strolled up in the matching pajamas Monica had gotten everyone for Christmas.

"I thought rather than a movie, we could go to a party," Ella smiled. "Y'all will have to change but then we can bounce," she said, glancing at the flannels they were all wearing.

"I have work early in the morning. I can't go out," Daisy said. "I told you that when we were making plans."

"I know, but I figured it wouldn't be that bad if we went out tonight. Philip was telling me that some kid was having a huge party over in Pine Plains," Ella said.

"Daisy said she can't Ella. Besides Olivia and I aren't staying long. We were just going to watch the movie and then go home. I have an early doctor's appointment. My parents want me home," Monica said.

"Yeah Ella. I told my mom that I would be home by 11:30," Olivia said.

"I don't want to just watch a movie. That's so lame. I got us an eight ball and everything," Ella whined. Daisy gave Olivia and Monica a confused look. Daisy hadn't done cocaine for a few weeks. She knew that Olivia and Ella were doing it frequently.

"Ella, all we ever do is go to parties or drink. Why can't we just have a normal girls night where we watch a movie together? Where we are sober for a change, you know the opposite of high," Daisy said, she was slowly losing her patience with Ella and the amount of drug she had been doing. Daisy knew that she wasn't in a position to talk to Ella, seeing as Daisy was getting high before school not long ago herself. Daisy still worried though.

"That's so lame. You guys can watch a movie, I'm going out," Ella said, pushing up from the spot she had just sat down in. Daisy shifted on the couch.

"You just got her."

"And now I'm leaving," Ella said, glaring at Daisy. "Have fun with your movie night," she snapped, walking through the sliding glass door.

"I'm worried about her," Monica whispered, her dark eye glued to where Ella had disappeared into the night. "She's starting to get addicted. I don't know what we can do."

"There's nothing we can do. Ella won't listen to us," Daisy said.

"Guy's you're being dramatic. Ella is fine. We are just having fun," Olivia said, shifting to play one of the movies. Daisy stared at her. Olivia's mom had told her family about her prognosis on Christmas. Since then, Olivia had been slowly spiraling out of control. She clung onto Ella, supporting and participating in the drug habits Ella had picked up. Daisy and Monica weren't as worried about Olivia, she only seemed to do anything bad in social settings. It was Ella that was causing them problems. Ella was coming to school high, snorting lines in the bathrooms. It was Ella that their teachers asked Daisy about, asking if she was on something. It was Ella that had the addictive personality, Ella who was trying to numb herself with cocaine. While Olivia's parents seemed to care too much, Ella's parents didn't seem to care at all. Even after the police called her dad they didn't step in. They didn't try to talk to their daughter about what she was doing with her life, about where she spent her nights.

"You may be having fun, but Ella has become dependant," Monica said, grabbing a handful of popcorn and picking at it. "I'm scared that she won't be able to stop."

"Me too," Daisy whispered, fear balling in her stomach.
