CHAPTER ONEJade is sitting in her living room, dreading the sound of the doorbell ringing. It's been a week since the deal of collaborating with pop superstar Perrie Edwards had been accepted and the two haven't met yet – until now. Perrie's dad insists that they meet before deciding on what kind of song they will be in the making; something about wanting to make sure they get along. Jade knew that was code for this blonde bitch hates you.
Her manager had been telling her that there's nothing to worry about and Perrie wasn't a monster, but if she didn't consider a drugged up pop singer that only sings for money a monster, something was wrong with her.
Just as she was feeling comfortable, she hears the sound of her doorbell ringing throughout the large living room, making her jump a little bit. Expecting the worst, she heads to the front door and opens it up.
A blonde mess stood in front of her, hair up in a messy bun while wearing a ruined hoodie with biker shorts on. Beside her was who Jade assumed was her dad (and manager). He smiles at her while the blonde takes a sip of the Starbucks cup she's holding in her hand. "Hi, Miss Thirlwall," he says cheerfully.
Jade could tell that he was way more excited for this exchange more than his own daughter. The blonde looks exhausted and bothered, and Jade can't ignore how much she reeked of cigarette smoke and expensive perfume that was probably an attempt to mask the scent. "Hi there," she says softly before moving out of the way to allow the two of them to step inside of her apartment. As they made their way inside, Jade shows them to the living room and offers them a seat on the couch, and all she could think about was how she wanted this all to go as quickly as possible. She knows that she has to spend more time, more hours and days, with this girl and it was going to be hell, so she was hoping for a quick opportunity to spend more time alone after this.
"So, as you know, this is my daughter Perrie," he tells her as he points to the blonde sitting beside him on the couch. Jade sits across from them on the armchair and notices how the blonde across from her was sitting, legs spread open and arms rested between her thighs. She had on sunglasses although she was inside and her hair looked like it hasn't been touched in a few days. Not being able to see her eyes made her breathe in sharply, not liking that she couldn't tell if she was really looking at her or not.
"I do know, yes," Jade says as politely as possible. She didn't want to seem too excited, because she wasn't, but also didn't want to seem too disinterested in the whole situation. The blonde snickers a little in her seat and Jade's head snaps to look at her once again, and all she sees is a cocky girl with a smirk on her face.
Perrie's dad went on with the typical business talk - when they would be writing, recording, and all of the promo that they would have to do after releasing the song. He even made jokes about how different the two of them were, but only he laughed at it. After discussing good times and dates for each of them, he decides to let them alone for a while, claiming he has a call to take anyways before leaving to the hallway outside of Jade's apartment.
The two girls stare at each other, or at least, Jade thinks she's looking back at her through the dark designer sunglasses she has on. It was pretty silent for a while, the only sound heard being Perrie's dad's phone call muffled from outside. Jade clears her throat. "So, I'm guessing–"
"Listen, Thirlwall, I'm not really in the mood for making friends with you or anything, okay?" Perrie interrupts her, making air-quotes when she said the word friends before letting out a laugh. "My dad just wants us to get along for this, but for me, I don't give a fuck. We're just co-workers."
