About:
La Mala Hora is a scary story and urban legend from the folklore of New Mexico. The name literally means "The Evil Hour."

~~

Appearance:
La Mala Hora is said to be a wicked spirit or an evil demon that wanders the lonely country roads after midnight. It first appears as a large, black, lump, constantly moving and changing shape, which can change rapidly, growing larger or smaller. They say it looks like a ghostly black shroud or a large black cotton ball. Sometimes, it can appear as a woman, wearing black clothing and her hair being long and unkempt.

~~

Behavior/Interaction:
La Mala Hora usually lurks in the darkness at the crossroads, waiting for an unwary traveler to pass by. Anyone who looks at it has a high risk of going crazy. It will try to hypnotize and paralyze the victim, then suddenly rush towards them and suffocate them. The next morning, they're found dead on the side of the road. If you encounter it in its human form (the woman), it usually means that you or someone else will die.

~~

Target(s):
Anyone

~~

Escape plan:
Just be careful and don't look at it.

~~

Origin story:
There is no information about its origin; when pressed about detailed information about this demon, the people of New Mexico won't talk about it and will reply with "Es cosa mala! (It's an evil thing!)"
