About La Lechuza:
The Lechuza is a scary Mexican urban legend and/or myth about an old woman who can turn into a giant large blackbird. The story is also called "La Mujer Lechuza" which means "The Owl Witch).

Appearance:
Usually, the Lechuza will appear as a large bird, the size of a human being. It can also appear as a creature with the head of a hideous woman and the body of a bird.

Behavior/Interaction:
The Lechuza appear at dusk or after nightfall. Most people would find them flying high over the tops of houses or seen outlines of them against the moonlight. If a Lechuza 'likes' you, it will sit outside your door at night and make crying baby noises. If you go to investigate, it will swoop down to you can carry you away. Not only are you in danger of becoming its next meal, but it could also be an omen that someone in your family will die. If you see scratches on your door or windowsill, the Lechuza may have visited you during the night.
