On March 15th, 2019, a man broke into a mosque and shot 51 Muslim worshippers in the city of Christchurch in New Zealand. After the horrible tragedy, the Prime Minister banned guns right away and since then there had been 0 mass shootings in New Zealand. But why, almost 7 years after Sandy Hook, where a bunch of little kids were shot by this crazy guy at a fricking elementary school, has America not acted on mass shootings? Over 2,500 mass shootings since then and now ban on assault rifles? It's crazy, but this is the world we live in. And not just guns, but how we think of Muslims. Say if you had a Muslim in your class (or if you do), do you think people are bullying him/her because he/she is a Muslim? Because the way he/she talks? That she wears a headscarf? Because the stereotypes we see on the news and in movies? Everybody knows that NOT ALL Muslims are terrorists, but the Media says they are. This leads to people let Donald Trump, who wanted to ban Muslims from entering the United States, to guys like Anders Breivik and Brenton Tarrant, who believed that Muslims were the West's biggest threats (they aren't), to countries like Israel, Myanmar and China, who are persecuting the Palestinians, the Rohingya and the Uighur people, who, in fact, are ALL MUSLIM. We need to wake up and take action because if we aren't helping victims of terrorism, Syrian refugees and survivors of gun violence, it's not going to end and it must stop. And now, although I'm not Muslim, here's my Islamic prayer to the Christchurch and Norway victims, to the Syrian refugees who died trying to flee ISIS, and the persecuted Muslims of Palestine, Myanmar and China:
"Allah, in my heart, let this hate end and shall there be no more tears and cries from young children. Let there be salaam, let there be habibi, and let anyone believe in your teachings, the prophet Muhammad. Inshallah."
