When June faded back to consciousness, she seemed to be floating in a void full of glowing splashes of colour that were all around her like a mini galaxy. She floated backwards trying to get a better look at all the different colours of 'paint' and bumped into
a splash of colour. Immediately she was back at her old elementary school, playing on the swings with her friend Austin.
"Watch this June!" Austin cried as she jumped off the swing that had swung a little high off the ground. Austin flew off the swing, landed badly on her ankle and started crying.
June ran towards Austin and dropped to her knees beside her. "Are you ok?" She asked worriedly while wiping the tears gently out of Austin's eyes with her thumps.
"My ankle hurts." Austin whined as she cradled her ankle in her hands.
"You stay here, I'll go get a teacher!" June said to Austin before scurrying off.
The memory faded around June and she smiled to herself. She remembered that moment. After she had gotten a teacher they helped Austin inside and let June stay with her to make sure she was okay. She then spent the rest of the day getting water or snacks for Austin and entertaining her until her mom could pick her up.
" You had quite the childhood." A low voice said as Death appeared beside June. "You’re a good soul."
"Are all these splotches of colour memories?" June asked still reminiscing her years in elementary school.
" Yup and I've looked over all of them, you're a good person." Death replied.
June smiled and thanked them as she slowly once again faded out of consciousness.
